Fenn Teroch Bossk

By Taggat, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Is this a dumb idea?

old bossk rau (99)

Fenn Rau (30) - Protectorate Starfighter
Fearlessness (1), Concord Dawn Protector (1)

Old Teroch (28) - Protectorate Starfighter
Fearlessness (1), Concord Dawn Protector (1)

Bossk (41) - YV-666
Veteran Instincts (1), Tractor Beam (1), Dengar (3), 4-LOM (1)

I don't think it's a bad idea, but protectorates without autothrusters are very squishy and susceptible to turrets.

All ideas can be improved. Be proud of your mindbabies.

^This.

The problem with these three is that you have to strip all three of them down so hard to fit them in that all three are ultimately weaker for it. I want some variation of this to work, but you have so little points left over to work with when you start with 3 premium pilots...

What these guys said.
You need AT otherwise you are going to get picked off at R3, wrecked by secondaries and out of arc turrets. Your only hope is title to R1 Joust. Not worth it in my opinion.

You will have to drop old T:

Fenn Rau (28) w/ Attanni Mindlink (1) , Autothrusters (2) , Concord Dawn Protector (1)

Kad Solus (25) w/ Attanni Mindlink (1) , Autothrusters (2) , Concord Dawn Protector (1)

Bossk (35) w/ Attanni Mindlink (1) , Dengar (3)

Total: 100

Kad moves first, and can sloop to get focus for squad. Other two can do greens to clear it.

This is a solid build no doubt. I'm challenging myself to not use mindlink.

Drop 4lom, VI, and tractor and you have the points for auto thrusters on both if you don't mind not having an initiative bid. Give Bossk adaptability for free if you wish. I see what you're trying to do with tractor, but bossk has such a great ability that it's a waste to use him for a tractor attack. 4lom is nice but you'll likely get to use it twice at most so not the biggest loss.

Thanks for the advice. Is there a better option for pilot or ship with the tractor strategy in mind?

I saw someone use Fenn and OT along side Latts Razzi with Weapons Engineer. Similar effect to TB and gives you more points to get AT on the Fangs

Ketsu Onyo in the Shadow Caster is my go-to tractor-pullin' gal. Unfortunately, she's too expensive to effectively wingwoman for the Fenn Rau and Old Teroch. The three pilots, nude, add up to 92 points. Not enough wiggle to make it work.

Other than that we have the lovable, ugly little dumptruck that is the Quadjumper with a Spacetug Tractor Array. You could fit a solidly equipped Fenn and Teroch with 2 (2!) Jakku Gunrunners with Spacetug Tractor Arrays. Season the last few points to taste with initiative/Ketsu Onyo crew/whatever else. The bigget problems the Quadjumper presents is that it's slow, it's pillow-fisted, and actually getting a badguy into the Spacetugger arc is tougher than it may first appear. Added bonus, though, is that you can tractor beam your own ships with them for some funky maneuvering possibilities.
