Rule book peek : deckbuilding page

By MrMenthe, in Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game

Did anyone else look at this and hear that chime-like noise that signals the reader to turn the page? Maybe it's just me. I have listened to my fair share of read-along books with my daughters.

@Culoman Surely you mean "the highest bidder just paid Honor to the lowest bidder".

Absolutely. Edited, thank you :)

Where can one see these most recent images? I do remember predicting a Seppun Guardsman Imperial Bushi at one point, and would like to check.

Voluntarily removed to comply with spoilers policy. Sorry guys!

The one with the Seppun Guardsnman isn't great.

Here's a bigger version:

Hmm, my main takeaway from that is that I must get a table mat like that.

Is that a token on the left hand side, right next to the province underneath the Lion stronghold? What is that, a 10 honor token? Looks cool, whatever it is.

Could it be the imperial favour ?

I think that's the first player token. The kanji on it are different from the ones on the honor tokens.

Imperial Favor is the card on the far right under the Honor dial.

**** you're right sir! :D

Ah, good call, that has to be it.

Well, that torpedoes the "Roles for multiplayer" theory.

Yep, way off on that one, I was fairly convinced myself. Stoked about the possibilities of these role cards, but now I want to see them!

I also like the new dueling rules.

It could be. The kanji appears to say 伝説, which means "legend". I'm not really sure what it could mean in the context of the game. Both being the first player or it representing an amount of honor more than 1 could be the case, or it could be something different.

However, it could say something else. The second kanji is pretty blurry and I searched for alternate words that it could be, but I didn't come up with anything, even anything uncommon, so that's my best guess.

Serious question:

Why show page 18 of the rulebook and not the previous 17 pages? Some of us really want to know the rules!

Although getting the one page out of 18 is better than 0 pages out of 18.

Welp that was the one I could get my hand on (saw it on the french forum). Apparently they were really strict on what could be captured or not. ^^'

This is basically just a random picture someone took from FFG's L5R booth at game festival in Paris. I agree, it would've been nice to see more of the rule book, but this isn't an official FFG spoiler.

I think the most interesting thing about this page is the minimum deck size is only 30 when using 1 box to construct a deck. This is pretty interesting for the GenCon tournaments.

I also like the new dueling rules, as well as the new imperial favor. The people I have seen speak out against these things, for the most part, have a Crane Avatar image...just a little something I noticed.

Both mechanics went from non-interactive in the old game to be things that are either interactive (Dueling) or have been made less consequential (Imperial favor)

it kinda always bugged me that in the old stores all of the clans ignored the word of the emperor at some time or another, but the imperial favor mechanically was not so optional.....

Also another preview. Imperial storehouse. Neutral holding. +1 defense. I think it says Action: Sacrifice this holding - Draw 1 card

Hm...could see that in Crane deck.

I'd take this card over a lot of Crane and Lion cards. Seems good.

I love that Covert can cause honor loss. If you leave one guy up for defence, you will be not be able to declare defenders at all.
