I am going to be making 3D terrain replacements for the cardboard templates.
What are peoples thoughts on exactly what the blighted terrain that comes with Ankaur Maro?

not sure but link it up when you do. can't wait to see it.
I'm not sure what it looks like, but I imagine blighted terrain would have a couple dead plants, be very dark, and have an ominous green or purple glow about it.
Spreading pieces of Woodland Scenics lichen, dipped in diluted purple paint might give an interesting effect...?

Some invasive worm species in the US greeble up the soil in a way that looks similar to that terrain. Incidentally, this process makes it harder for native species to take root and grow. So they do sorta blight the terrain.
Seems kind of fitting considering the carrion crawlers are a thing.
Having a hard time finding an image of the soil for you though.
Think like mammatus clouds , but in the dirt. Might be cool to paint the terrain that way, bright greens and purples in the valleys, dark browns, grays, and black on the hills. Bones and dead trees littered about.

Grubs? They feed on grass roots so it kills grass off in patches.
Yeah I was thinking a pit with dead wood and vines painted purples and greens and then fill it with a smokey coloured resin.

No, definitely a worm species. I'm just terrible at recalling names. If you're ever out in the woods around the eastern part of the US and you see a bare patch of soil that looks a bit like the blighted terrain tile (minus the purple coloration), there's a good chance you're looking at the work of said worms.
Is this what you're thinking of?
This species is called Asian jumping worm here in the US. Even if this wasn't the worm you were thinking of, it's still pretty cool.
I was just thinking of my own ways to create a 3D Blighted Ground terrain and came across this thread and wondered if you had gotten anywhere with creating your own yet?
