Store Championship

By emsgoof, in Star Wars: Armada Battle Reports

Today I went ahead and participated in the store championship at Dream Wizards. No offense to @Snipafist but the Raider list just wasn't working for me, so I built a Rebel list last night, going off the theory of throwing large number of dice at the enemy.

I ended up with the following:

Ackbar, MC80 Assault, Home One, Engine Tech, Electronic Countermeasures, Advanced Projectors, XI7 Turbolasers, Leading Shots

MC30 Torpedo, Foresight, Ordnance Experts, Assault Proton Torpedoes, XI7 Turbolasers
MC30 Torpedo, Admomition, Ordnance Experts, Assault Proton Torpedoes, XI7 Turbolasers
Shara Bey
Tycho Celchu
Targeting Beacons, Fire Lanes, Minefields
Round One I ended up facing the dual ISD list run by the guy who won our Regional tournament. I wasn't counting on this being easy by any stretch of the imagination, but I wasn't really looking to do more than get in some fun games.
I was second player, and we were running my minefields mission. I took a few moments to actually figure out how to set up the terrain and objective tokens to maybe get the minefields to work for me.
Deployment:

End of turn 1, his ISD on my right hit a mine for a hit / crit. In return, I managed to swing the rear of my MC80 into the MC30 next to it while trying to move because I activated them in the wrong order...

End of turn 2. I've parked an MC30 in front of an ISD1 (who's idea was this?) with a dual arc, and I'm hoping it survives. Meanwhile that ISD took a dual hit from another mine.

End of turn 3. The MC30 survived, and is now lined up to take vengeance on the ISD that shot at it. Home One is also in position if the activation order works in its favor.

End of turn 4. The enemy ISD1 was destroyed, and my ships are (barely) surviving.

End of turn 5, I've managed to again get my MC30 into close range of an ISD, but this time I'm not holding out much hope of it surviving!

I forgot to take a picture of the end of the game, unfortunately the closest MC30 died to the ISD while the farther MC30 died to the Defenders. The end result was a 4-7 loss. Fortunately the game was a lot of fun to play.

Round 2 I was facing another Rebel list, this time an Ackbar MC80 Assault with XI7, Raymus Antilles, Electronic Countermeasures, Defiance; AF2A with Electronic Countermeasures, Gunnery Teams, Intel Officer, Spinal Armament; CR90A with Turbolasers Reroute Circuits, Jaina's Light; GR75 with Comms Net, Shara Bey, Tycho

I opted to go second, and my opponent again picked minefields. I set them up similar to the previous round. My opponent deployed to attempt to jump Jaina's Light over the mines while the rest of his fleet did an end run around the mines. I took a neutral setup with the thought to head my opponent off before he could bring his side arcs to bear.

End of turn 1 the CR90 has taken a hit / crit from a mine, and has landed in medium range of the MC80. My MC30s are set to rush up and block the MC80.

IMG_0595.jpg

End of turn 2, I managed to destroy the CR90 with a blast from Home One. My MC30 blocked his MC80 while staying out of its side arc (barely).

IMG_0596.jpg

End of turn 3, my MC30 took all but 1 damage off the MC80, but due to a mess up with my command stack, I couldn't ram it for the final point of damage. Meanwhile it's stuck dual arc'd on his MC80. I've blocked his Assault Frigate from moving and is stuck in medium range of Home One.

End of turn 4, he activated his MC80 first and destroyed my MC30. Hat put him at close range of the other MC30, which then destroyed it. Home One destroyed the Assault Frigate. At this point we called the game. 10-1 victory for me.

Round three was against another Rebel fleet. Commander Sato on an MC80 Star Cruiser, Nav Team, Raymus Antilles; Nebulon B, Salvation; 3 CR90A, Shara, Tycho, 3 A-Wings

My opponent opted to go first and picked minefields as well. By this time I was pretty confident of the setup so went with the same obstacle placement and token placement. I put my MC80 on the right to defend my flank from the 2 CR90s trying to make an end run.

End of 1, Salvation took some damage from a mine. I'm still trying to figure out how to attack the Liberty without being destroyed in the process.

IMG_0600.jpg

End of 2, I lost one of my MC30, it damaged the Liberty in the process. I'm hoping the other MC30 survives long enough to take the Liberty out. Home One has Salvation double arced.

IMG_0601.jpg

End of 3, the MC30 took out the Liberty, finishing it off by ramming it, leaving it with1 hull left. Somehow Salvation survived (don't remember the details).

IMG_0602.jpg

End of 4, Home One took out Salvation, and my MC30 is running away with 1 or 2 hull left.

End of 5, the MC30 and Home One both took out a Corvette, tabling my opponent, giving me an 8-3 victory.

The tournament was a lot of fun, and I ended up second. That was a surprise considering my loss in the first round, but I was happy with the result.

Congrats! Looks like a fun couple of games. :-)

Question - is your local meta very light on squadrons? Or did you just happen to draw against two fleets that also had low-ish squadron counts?

Exception being first round, of course. Did he go on to win?

The squadron game around here is all over the place. The winner for this tournament actually runs pretty much max fighters with Gallant Haven, Yavaris, etc. and if I recall correctly he went up against another list that was maxed out on fighters in round 2. A couple of the other lists there had a good amount of fighters as well. I just happened to pull 2 opponents that were light on them.

@CyborgNinja was the winner and has most of the lists from yesterday. I'm pretty sure he's posting them later today (if he hasn't already). He has his max fighter list worked out really well, and does very well with it.

Since Photobucket has turned into ransomware, I'm trying out something else.
*edit- yay it worked!*

Hey emsgoof, i know i am crazy late on this (couple of killer busy weeks at work!) But I wanted to congratulate you on the killer tournament. You don't luck into second place, so it sounds like you flew like a champ!

Congrats again!!

Thanks! I'll work on moving the pictures off of ransombucket over to a new provider.

Pictures have been moved to a new hosting service in all of their Armada glory

Excellent reports, the pics are great!
