On Scum as allies

By KelRiever, in X-Wing

I get for tournaments and hard core rules, Scum are meant to be thrir own faction. But in the name of fun, isn't it just as valid to treat them as 'mercs'? Able to fight for either Empire or Rebellion?

To me that's how them best exist, especially when you have releases like the Quadjumper, something that seems like it should be of more generic use.

because we need moar jm5ks :P

honestly, in a casual setting you can do whatever you want if you and your opponent can agree upon it beforehand

the campaign included in the CROC apparently deals with a band of scum siding with either the empire or rebellion too

We've tried, it's fun!

I like having Serissu and Howlrunner in the middle of a swarm, so everyone gets to re-roll 1 atk and 1 def ^^

Try a 4-way fur all:empire,rebels, bounty hunters and smugglers/pirates. A blast!!!

At the very least, some pilots could be cross faction. All the bounty hunters at least. They work for the highest bidder.

This is similar to an idea that I had as well! I think scum can be a third distinct faction, but I always thought that the bounty hunters should be a fourth faction! All the bounty hunter ships (Dengar, IG-88, Zuckuss, etc.) would be a fourth faction, and you could either include one bounty hunter in any fleet, or fly a fleet of all bounty hunters.

I could see future cards allowing bounty hunter allies. "I need them alive. No disintegration." The only flaw is you'd need to restrict the ships somehow, or open a big door of problems.

It could be problematic for dead serious play, but I don't think that's what it's all about. Come on how about if Rey and Finn made it to the Quadjumper? Or Unkar Plutt flies the Millenium Flacon?

These ridiculous things need to happen.

Sheesh, I'd just settle for Shuttle Tydirium. Talk about classic.
