Moonlight Ritual saves the day! (Where Doom Awaits minor spoilers)

Just writing to share a funny situation that came up when I was playing 2 handed solo today (hard mode). My investigators were Wendy and Agnes, playing Where Doom Awaits!

So, in my campaign log I had put Silas Bishop out of his misery. The first Conglomeration of Spheres we dealt with relatively easily thanks to Agnes pulling a Shriveling*** in her opening draw. Well, we were doing all right and had just made it to the Ascending the Peak location, when we advanced to Agenda-2. In addition to that, a second Conglomeration of Spheres showed up.

This was bad news, because Agnes had used up all of her charges on Shriveling, and had no other weapons. Wendy had a fire axe in hand, but that was of limited use because of the ability on the Spheres. Nor did she have any tricks to pull in hand, so basically it was down to trying to melee the thing with Wendy's combat of 1 or Agnes' combat of 2. Not great odds. But I did have a Moonlight Ritual in hand with Agnes and a Blood Pact. Time to get serious!

Wendy started out by evading the spheres, mostly to help Agnes avoid it's attack since she was already somewhat low on sanity. She then went to a different location to find some clues. So Agnes used blood pact 3 times, scoring 3 hits! 3 doom on blood pact. next turn wendy hunted clues and she repeated the process for another 3 hits, 6 doom on blood pact, and a dead conglomeration of spheres! Whew! I knew I was going to clear doom on my next turn, so I went ahead and used Blood Pact again when a Willpower test came up for her during mythos. 7 doom on the pact (2 on the agenda).

Well, Wendy got around to making it back with some clues in hand, but I mentioned before Agnes' sanity was pretty low, so she gave Agnes' 2 swigs worth of Liquid Courage. A willpower test? May as well use Blood Pact! She passed both checks, healing 4 sanity and bringing blood pact up to 9 doom.

Now, while I was sorely tempted to go for the 10 by moving and using a Rite of Seeking, I thought that would be a bad idea in case I pulled a special symbol and had to forfeit the rest of my turn. So I played the Moonlight Ritual on my first action, clearing 9 doom from the card =D =D =D.

We did pull off the win shortly thereafter, Agnes drew into her second Shriveling which was enough to dispatch Seth Bishop with blood pact (some more) to help with that and also with getting the rest of the clues with Rite of Seeking.

That sounds awesome.

Yep, Ritual is pretty great on high Doom agendas.

Immense @awp832, that's just the sort of ritual fun times you want to pull! Great going indeed!

Moonlight Ritual was made for Blood Pact, as far as I'm concerned. It's fantastic. Bit of a gamble to use Blood Pact if you've not drawn one yet, though. I did, and drew Moonlight Ritual just in time to clear the doom from Blood Pact.
