Wacky Character Concepts

By GandofGand, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

So, I've had a few discussions with some of my local play groups and come up with a few ideas for wacky characters concepts I wanted to share and see what other wacky ideas you all may have to share as well...

- Three Jawas in a Bad Hutt Costume; aka; "Utinni the Hutt"

- A Droid that has seen some S**t and now believes it is the living incarnation of the Dark Side; body is modeled in Maximilian from the Black Hole movie (If you don't know the movie google it then find time to watch it, it is a a great creep sci-fi / horror film from Disney of call comapnies)

- "Groo" A Herglic Gadgeteer / Droid Tech who builds his won gadgets as well as a small army of unintelligible yellow-painted droids to do his bidding...

Yes the last some ideas are slightly unoriginal, but certainly fit "wacky" 8D

I have a player who roleplays somewhat of a wacky person but it's mostly prominent in what a maniac he is.

A. Constantly screwing around with crew. From pranks, to silly acts during serious deals being a joke to him, and cutting money aside from payoffs.

B. Sense of humor and cracking up the players. From epic swashbuckling scenes off a jetpack, to daring space escapes and chases over grudges, greed and murder-hobbying across the galaxy.

C. His name's Joe Sa'amek (Hebrew slang for "god dammit"). Also know as Unlucky Joe, wherever he goes, things explode and vendettas against him around every corner.

Ewok Marshall/Enforcer

Ted From the movie mixed with Marv from Sin City.

Has no idea what ewoks are.

Based off an old Weg concept, some old guy who swears he has the force but in reality doesn't So essentially a Duelist who pretends he is a jedi

Crow T. Droid - A custom droid built by a lonely guy who needed friends to cope with isolation, Crow believes he's a Clone Wars era battle droid. But he's not.

Tom Servo - Another custom droid built by the same guy. He thinks he's an astromech, and keeps shoving his finger into scomp link ports to no effect. (This was a companion NPC to my old WEG character.)

Perlla the Hutt - A vicious female Hutt who roams the spaceways in her red and white Action VII transport, the Widowmaker, with her advisor, the simpleton Wookiee, Professor Bobowharruk. She smothered her son to death with her own two hands...and blames the PCs for it.

(Yeah, who can guess what show I had on when putting these together. )

How about an Astromech droid who is a Bounty Hunter: Martial Artist?

JarJar Binks daughter. (My own daughter played this character)

R2-X3 - mind you, this character was written in about 1988... a human jedi's brain inside an R2 body...

Not quite on the same levels of wackiness being discussed above, but one of my players is playing a bounty hunter (lower case; he's actually a Smuggler (Charmer)) based on the character Garth from Supernatural. He's not always very effective in combat, but he is usually very entertaining.

I once played a droid that was painted matt black and used himself as a blackboard by drawing on himself with chalk.

Everything from tactical analysis like a football coach to camouflage to flowers when hevwanted to look charming.

The usual suspects would be a member of an intimidating-looking race (Wookiees, Trandoshans, Nikto, etc.) that are actually cuddly and affectionate, or who obsess over their appearance. The flip side would be "cute" races (Ortolans, Aleena, some might say Ewoks, though they're kind of hideous to me, etc.) who are murderous, psychotic, or just plain unpleasant.

Similarly, flipping expectations can be entertaining in a number of ways: a brilliant Gamorrean (already done) or stupid Chiss, a clumsy Dug or dexterous Hutt, and so on.

Astromech droid chassis, using Hired Gun: Enforcer.

Had a buddy actually create the character just for a lark. Equipped with a built-in heavy blaster pistol and a vibro-blade that was themed as a chainsaw, both of which could be retracted behind storage panels.

Was garbage at your typical astromech tasks (as a Hired Gun generally would be), but would be a heck of a surprise to spring in combat.

Wookiee Gigolo. Dunno about the cuddly, but the character was big on "affection" (negotiable or otherwise).

It's a thing that actually exists, and there's character art to prove it, done up by an old friend of mine for a mutual friend.

So some setup...I had the first session of the 1st FFG SW Game that I have run, I'm calling it "The New Disorder" and it takes place 50+ years after TFA. There is no Republic, Empire or First order. Noe any Jedi or Sith. The rest of the Galaxy had enough of the constant civil wars between the groups and broke up into smaller groups with a loose confederation and some commons sense Laws/Rules/Suggestions. Force-users are universally reviled and exiled. Basically plenty of freedom for people to pretty much do what they want...as long as they can get away with it...think Firefly/Cowboy Bebop/Outlaw Star...gritty and always hungry for money. The campaign starts on Tattooine...

So the group consists of 2 Faleen, one a Charmer and 1 a Marshall a Human raised by Tusken and a Mandalorian Pacifist Doctor...The Charmer and the Doctor started a Medical Clinic that the Charmer uses to Launder stolen money. The Marshall likes to make up parking Laws to Impound flashy swoops...the Semi-Tusken is going to become the center of a new Tatooine-centered Telenovella "As the Sands Dry" and the Doctor is the Straight Man...8D

Less a wacky character concept than a wacky campaign (WEG). I played a wanna-be Jedi, barely trained by a master who died. The pilot was a scoundrel, with heavy pirate ties. I wanted to join the Rebellion, and every time I had a chance to, he up and jumps the ship, heading for a pirate shadowport. I could never find another ship that I trusted enough to leave his for, so I kept tagging along. Disturbingly, another player (without knowing anything about my character) wrote a backstory and character description that almost exactly matched mine (except for force sensitivity). It turned out we were brothers separated at birth.

Ahem! I believe you're thinking of "Gru." This man seems to take issue with your spelling.

Hey, I'm as surprised as anyone that he even knows how to spell his own name.

After seeing the Baywatch movie, I wanted to make a Nautolan lifeguard patterned after Johnson's "Mitch."

I was in fact referring to "Gru" from the "Despicable Me" movies...8D

Though Groo the Wanderer may end up making an appearance in my game now...8D

I am going to play a droid character based on Claptrap from Borderlands 2 named FU8AR. Should be quite entertaining.

I am totally not planning on using the Borderlands plot for my Tattooine-based EotE campaign...complete with a Handsome- Jack-esque villain and his team from the pre-Sequel and cross it with a Telenovela...

Nope, not going to do it...

addendum...General Knoxx would make an excellent mid-game Boss...so would the Lady-Assassins...just sayin...8D
