Happy Friday - Lets shout

By Cubanboy, in Star Wars: Armada

Happy Friday and a happy weekend to all.

I thought it might be a lot of fun this weekend to give a forum buddy a shout out, so lets here some cheer.

@cynanbloodbane keep being an outstanding poster of good things. Cheerio

Thanks Cubanboy.

@Beatty my favorite SSD opponent. He provides a quality and consistent argument against, but I respect his opinions, and he got a hard time in my last post on the subject, so I want to make sure he knows I appreciate him as part of our community.

Cheerios! My favorite cereal!

Shout out to @Vergilius ! His posts are always well-informed and insightful. Thanks for that!

And where would the community be without Classic Ben?

Sure I'll shout out @BrobaFett who I spent the most time with hanging around Worlds. Hope to catch him at a regional later this year!

Shout out to @Ardaedhel : One of the most serious students of the game, who puts a lot of thought into his builds and analysis of the game.

Shout out to @Brikhause : for being one of the best Armada buddies that one can have, and for being a superb all-round good guy.

Shout out to @Caldias : for being a great sport and friend at worlds. I wish you the best in the coming year.

Shout out to @CaribbeanNinja : for being a stellar example of sportsmanship in competition, and for the friendly teasing throughout the year.

Shout out to @Reinholt : For being a serious student of the game, a great conversational partner, and someone I'm proud to call a friend.

@Daht ! Such a good time at Worlds, and so glad we got to hang out. Maybe I can convince my wife to spend a weekend at a lazy river in a hotel while we get some Armada in!

Huge thanks to @Norsehound and @mythics who have been so essential to keeping and even growing Armada in the San Francisco Bay Area. Without your hard work we'd be all but finished here.

I was just about to put up a "Has anyone seen @ovinomanc3r recently?" post up but this will do nicely. (then I check his profile and find out where he has really been lurking recently).

Anyway, love his quirky sense of humour and generally great contributions.

Anyone saw me recently. I am a ninja

I need to back to the main and rule forum. The episode III is not going to be written by itself.

Lol, Ovi's been busying himself with important things.

I've got a lot. Deal with it...

First of all, @Vergilius Classic Ben and @Brikhause the other Ben, who have made my life hard at virtually every tournament I've ever been to; and @ardneh42 and @ripper998 for the easy wins.

@Drasnighta and @DiabloAzul , the Knights of the Rules Forum. o7

@BiggsIRL , @Madaghmire , @shmitty , and @Tirion , proprietors of Boring Conversations and all-around good guys.

@CaribbeanNinja , my constant opponent. I'm pretty sure we're still in the squadron phase of turn 2. Your turn.

All the awesome guys I met at Worlds, some of whose names I've surely forgotten, but including @Mogrok , @PT106 , @moodswing5537 , @Naboobo2000 , @JJs Juggernaut Jugger, @BrobaFett , and Kevin whose username I can't remember now...

@WWPDSteven for being a stellar example of sportsmanship and the right balance of taking games seriously and keeping it friendly. Even though you're wrong about flotillas or whatever.

My MC30 bros @Caldias , @comatose , @geek19 , and @Matt Antilles . Anybody who would put Sensor Teams on them doesn't get a shout out.

@clontroper5 , who broke the game and then moved to Africa. Man, I'm excited for him to get back!

@Tvayumat for being the whipping boy in my favorite Armada story ever and then promptly quitting. :)

I would like to give a shout out to @BrobaFett for teaching me Vassal, patiently sitting through 2 three-hour sessions to do so, @Flengin for giving me my first ever like, when I expected to hardly be noticed on these forums, @Drasnighta for being so helpful on the rule forums and the Article Predictions thread, @Cubanboy for these Friday posts and in general for being a positive person on these forums, and then I guess a general shout out to everybody else.

Edit: How could I forget??? @BiggsIRL for starting the Mafia games in the Off-Topic sub-forum. :D And @PubliusClaudius for our conversations about campaigns.

A shout out to @geek19 and @Snipafist for the blog I read most (even more often than my own!)

A shout out to @Green Knight for great tournaments!

The loudest shout out to @Green Knight for Vassal. Without it Armada would for me be simply a game among others, but thanks to Vassal the number of games I have played has increased by 1000%. You are for me the guy who gives most to the community.

Happy Friday All! I get to play Armada for the first time in months tomorrow... I'm so boned.

I have to say @BiggsIRL is as friendly in person as he is on here. If you're heading to an event and there is breakfast, don't skip out.

@CyborgNinja is also a cool cat to hang with, and his paint work is really sweet in person.

@Drasnighta is also a talented painter and let's be honest, helpful with tips for it, and the rules dissection. If I get a chance to get out his way, I'd definately meet up with him.

@mcworrell is also a nice guy in person and loves talking about the game.

I'm sure there are more people I've met... just not sure who/if they are on the forums.

I'll shout out to @Cubanboy because I don't really know any of you. He seems like a very positive person who is just excited about playing a game he loves and getting other people to be excited about it as well.

Happy Friday all!

@Cubanboy for always coming up with interesting topics for Thursday night and Friday morning.

@Stasy one of the few people on here that I met in person and got to play a great game against. Also he is a fellow Pennsylvanian so you know he is good people.

@BiggsIRL @Truthiness @shmitty Your blogs helped me out a ton when I first started playing the game. Keep up the amazing work.

@WWPDSteven your stream got me addicted to this game. I hope to see some more soon.

Finally, @Chuntsinger my only regular opponent. Good luck at West Point and I'll see you during your breaks.

Well, I don't know the forum screen names for many of them, but I wanna give a shout out to all the people who've picked up a squadron command plate from me. I've had nothing but positive experiences working with each an every one of them.

Sure thing, I'll jump in!

Shout out to @Vergilius for being a great opponent at Words and a great guy to discuss this game with

@CaribbeanNinja as another great opponent and one of the most chill guys I played with. I loved our Canadian standoff with our squadrons.

@Ardaedhel for first revealing the 6-7 activation MC30 fleet and being a cool guy

@WuFame for going to Armada boot camp with me for those months leading up to the first regional season and making me a better player

@Undeadguy for being an enthusiastic member of our local community, and for throwing around the wacky lists

@wolfpack95 for being another great local community member, and for clubbing me with Ackbar pickles

@Overdawg for always being a fun and challenging opponent when we are able to cross that VA/NC border

@Madaghmire for being the best at ninja inserting timely jokes in threads

And, really, the whole forum for being enthusiastic members of the community.

@IceQube MkII for coming out and hanging with me and Chris for the Drawbridge Games Store Championship (and Haufbrau House)

@Drasnighta for painting some great prizes for my forum writing competitions.

@DabDarklighter for quality local gaming.

@shmitty and @Truthiness for blog writing partnerships. @geek19 and @Snipafist for the other Armada blog to keep us on our toes.

I started tagging people.

At 52 tags, it told me I couldn't support any more link tagging notifications.

So I've deleted them all, lest I forgot or omit someone. Instead, this just goes out to Everyone.

For the Greater part of these forums, I am very thankful for the Creative Discussion that happens here... Correct or Not, I do enjoy discussion when its handled with the proper discourse, and far and beyond, that's the majority here.

I'm very thankful for the people who give me the time of day...

I'm thankful for those who criticise me, and tell me to watch my high horse - because my soapbox can be a bit too big at times...

I'm thankful for those who listen to what I have to say...

I'm thankful for those who have reasoned arguments...

I'm thankful for those who have proven me wrong...

I'm thankful for those who have pointed out my mistakes...

I'm thankful for those who have apologised on behalf of others when things have gotten out of hand...

I'm thankful for those who have generously allowed me to paint-for-profit for them.
Your support has seen assured that my Son has been able to attend the Special-Needs school that he so rightly needs... His speech-language pathology has made excellent strides because of it... (We get full sentences now, at times...)... I've almost covered the next year in transportation, and then can start looking to my own health.

I'm thankful for those who have endured my rants, and endured my discussions, and endured being told they are "wrong" - weather they were or were not... I'm passionate about Armada, because outside of my family, its all I've got, so its what I do.

That's really wonderful news. Really glad to hear it.

To the forum as a whole! Thanks for constantly talking about Armada and giving me something to read when I get a chance.

Hey back at you, @BiggsIRL , @Truthiness , and @shmitty at Steel Squadron ! For what it's worth I don't think of you guys as competitors at all; I have the utmost respect for anyone dumb committed enough to keep an Armada blog going. It can be a lot of work!

I'd like to high-five @Drasnighta for being an all-around cool dude and underappreciated rules forum referee.

I also really appreciate @GiledPallaeon for all his naval education that he's keen to share over on the off-topic forum and on his blog . I particularly enjoy it when he gets snarky, although he sees this as a personal failing (which I suppose it is if indulged too much) I revel in it!

And @geek19 of course for being my Armada bro since wave one days and for co-writing Cannot Get Your Ship Out with me. We've been friends now for... I'm gonna say at least 8 years, so we do a lot together more than just Armada.

Here's us at Halloween last year Star Wars style (I'm the Imperial admiral, he's Han Solo; my wife is Mon Mothma and our other buddy is Obi-wan, plus we met some other Star Wars folks there!). It's not all Star Wars of course, but the pic felt appropriate.

I guarantee you I've missed people so sorry if you got left out!
