Just to continue the conversation and for possible clarifications:

COORDINATION DODGE
No Disintegrations, pg 34

Activation: Active (incidental, Out of Turn)
Ranked: No
Trees: Martial Artist
When targeted by a combat check , the character may spend one Destiny Point to add [FAILURE] equal to her ranks in Coordination to the check.

You answered your own question here

When piloting a vehicle with the linked control device, a character with a neuromahine interface may use his Coordination skill in place of the Pilot (Planetary) or Pilot (Space) skill.

Do you at any time use your Pilot skill to avoid being hit , if so you could use coordination in its place End of story. That is the mechanical definitation of how to use the cybernetic in the game , any other use of it is house rule. You use coordination in place of piloting. You dont get to use piloting to avoid being hit.

As for coordination dodge you get to use it when you are tagretted by a combat check and even with the neuromachine interface , it is the ship that is targeted.

Only under the special case of you wearing/piloting the flight suit armor from no disintegrations would I allow it because if you're wearing a flightsuit and getting targeted by another vehicle you need all the help you can get and because you could do it wearing the armor if you were standing on the ground so for the sake of consistency.

Yeah id allow it if a player was flying some sort of personal flight suit ala iron man type flying, but as you say the death risk is huge here.
