The Next Expansion?

By Jazzbeaux, in Talisman

So anyone have any idea what the next expansion might be?

I would guess that it would be a big box/board expansion, so one of the outer realms? Which area was diagonally opposite the Dungeon in the previous versions - might be a good place to 'balance' the board.

Sam

I think the city was diagonally opposite the dungeon. I also think it was the next-most popular expansion after the dungeon in previous editions (at least among the people I played with) so I wouldn't be at all surprised if its the next expansion for this edition.

I bet on the board one - Mountains

I hope Mountain of Forest! From what I've heard of "City," I could do without.

The TimeTravelShit !!! :D

...oh, this thread is not about the exp you want the least ? sorry ;)

I admit I'd like a Forest or Moutain one.

City would be the last released corner expansion, which would gather all the stuff (like Armours for psychic combat, which are Objects not Magic Objects) from previous expansions and make them available in it.

For me, newest one might either Mountains or Forest or Timescape lengua.gif

I just hope it is on the same side as the dungoen, so I don't need to get a bigger table.

Surely you are buying the wrong game if you are having table space issues! :)

Guess will just have to wait and see what comes next.

So what sort of things were in the various realms in previous versions?

City?

Forest?

Mountains?

Truthfully, I don't remember anything about the forest or mountains. I remember the city, though.

There were a couple of "job titles" you could get, like sheriff or guard captain (I forget the proper names.) There were a lot of strange little shops and space encounters to run into. Pickpockets, potion shops and the like. I also remember it was illegal to be in the city without money. If the guards caught you without a coin in pocket they'd haul you off to jail. =P

That may have been my friends' humorous way of referring to rules about bribing the guards.

Things they could include in a new city to make things interesting:

- the ability to rent out apartments for X gold per turn, you can store extra items there and maybe rest up if you like.

- a thieves' guild players can go to to break into other people's apartments (or stores maybe). If the roll fails you might get sold out as the kingpin and sent to jail. Paying off the thieves would make this an inefficient way to avoid buying stuff, but perhaps a handy way to get that coveted item another player has been neglecting too long...

- I remember an encounter in the old city involving a beggar asking for money (don't remember what happened with it though), maybe make a little deck of like 10 cards one of which is drawn randomly to determine what happens after you meet the beggar. Maybe he's a power noble in disguise who rewards you if you opted to pay him and punishes you if you didn't, or maybe (s)he's a witch who frogs you if you didn't pay. Whatever, you draw a card randomly after deciding if you'll pay or not.

These sorts of random occurrences are what I like about Talisman. We never really played to win, we just played to see what crazy **** would happen to our characters along the way.

One of the best things about the City is it gives players a chance to spend some ot that excess gold clinking in their pockets. And god knows the game could use that right now.

Maybe something completely new like Islands with some interesting characters: Pirate, Naga, Canibal, Corsair, Siren
After Warlock arose from the Board I would also expect that Vampire, Werewolf and Black Knight will also join the competition happy.gif

In Mountains I would expect also some Barbarians, Hobbits ...

Nah, the best thing in City was giving possibility to become Master Level Character. Bunch of new abilities, and few Strength/Craft values boots was, what Talisman always was needed. For now Elf, ith his crappy abilities might die with them. He needs few other abilities. Since he won't get them as a new Character card, he needs to get them from Master Level Character. Unfortunately, Goodenough's 4th RE is based on 3rd Edition, and the Master Level Characters which we are gona to get, will be based on them - one, single, useless and repetitive ability, and +1 do S and C, eventually +2 to either S or C.

How do you figure that? Seems much more throwback to the 1st/2nd edition.

Hey Guys,

I like the idea of an expansion for the City. I read all the other players comments bout having shops, and buying a house to store things and theifs guild.I think that would make the game really interesting for players who tend to get lots of gold and just have no time to spend it on armour or spells when the game is going faster for instance.

You could throw in couple more new characters eg, Tramp, City Guard ( Guard Captain) Ranger, etc human based characters.

i dnt like the idea of hobbits and stuff because the game will get so close to being a lord of rings game lol :D

but yah an explansion would be good like City, Or Wild Forest.

Cheers Aaron.

Hobbit was in first edition :-) so I'm still missing it

The City is on the other (same side) of the board. ( horizontal of the dungeon)

Because of space problems, i will hope for the City.

At this moment, most people are praying for more purchase cards, to spend their gold

But on the other side.. people are curious what FFG will do with the City..

I hope at least that FFG will make something good of it.

If FFG is not ready for a good City expansion, then i wish that the next expansion will be the Mountains.

It seems my wish came true gran_risa.gif

Oke, now that the Highland expansion is at the printer for some weeks, what for small expansion do you wish for?

As soon a project has been finished, then it's time to go to the next project..

The first small expansions that comes to my mind are:

- Dragon Expansion

- Light/Dark Fate Expansion

- Wildernis expansion

- Raiders expansion ( aka Desert expansion ?)

I rearly look forward to see the coming of light/dark fate rules. Think I will get a bit disapointed if it is not included in the next expansion.

Yeah, well.. i expect that the Light/Dark fate rule, will be the next small expansion, after the highlands.

I think that the Dragon expansion will be released later in the future when we have all the regions..

But FFG could mix the Light/Dark fate rule with a wildernis expansion for the mainboard..
