Tail Gunner and the VCX-100 question

By Rat of Vengence, in X-Wing

Hi all, quick question as I haven't my X-Wing stuff with me right now.

Does Tail Gunner work with the VCX and a docked shuttle? Does the rear fire arc count as a 'rear facing auxiliary firing arc'?

If you have a reference for your yes/no that would be great :)

Thanks,

RoV

I would be interested in the argument as to why it doesnt? As far as I know, and like you RoV, I don't have reference material with me, all the requirements fit. It can shoot out the said arc, it is an auxiliary arc and with the Phantom docked it can use the VCX's primary weapon value to do so. Without the Phantom docked, I dont see why you couldnt do it with just torpedoes too.

I would assume no, as it never is referenced as auxiliary arc, but rather as "special" arc, which is not the same.

It does not work. Tail gunner specifically says a "rear facing auxiliary arc". The VCX has no auxiliary arc, it has a special arc, so nothing there to trigger it. Doesn't work on the YV666 since it has side-facing aux arcs instead of rear facing.

Also, we do have a Rules Forum for questions such as these.

Don't want to be "that" guy, but has there been anything about the difference between special arc and auxiliary arc in the FAQ?

Not in the FAQ, but a special arc only works with torpedoes*, an auxiliary arc works with primary weapons. But they are different things and any card which references one in particular (ie. Tail Gunner) does not work with the other.

* Until the Ghost/Phantom titles come into play, at least.

The Phantom title still calls it a 'special' firing arc.

Thanks all, I had my doubts, but I thought it was worth asking.

Mods, feel free to move this, it should have been in the rules forum.
