Sorry if this is a repeat question, but I'm not sure if these two would synergize or not.
So, Scathing Tirade specifies that when you use it you make a Coercion check, and No Escape says "May spend Advantage from Coercion checks to prevent target from taking a free maneuver next turn."
So, does that mean, if I have both talents, and use Scathing Tirade (which is a Coercion check) on someone, and get enough Advantage, I could then trigger No Escape? I feel like that is the intent, but I'm not entirely sure if Scathing Tirade is an exception.
Warden question: Scathing Tirade + No Escape
I'm pretty sure that's correct; I can't recall ever seeing a dev ruling to the contrary. And Scathing Tirade is the primary method of using Coercion in combat, so the synergy almost must be intentional.
I'd allow the combo to work, since you are rolling Coercion, you'd be trading using those 2 advantage for inflicting strain on an affected target, and No Escape is itself a Passive talent.
Given that they're both in the same spec, I'd be surprised if the writer didn't fully intend for that combination to be a legitimate thing.
that is correct, similarly fear checks caused by your own fearsome talent also trigger no escape as well. (although other people's fearsome talenta also come into play here) I play a warden in a group with an Aggressor.
The one thing to point out is that it ultimately gives you the choice of either doing more strain damage on a target or choosing to apply a debuff on the movement. Also important is that with the fear checks, it is the character making the fear check that gets affected, however if you roll 2 advantage on a coercion check you can affect a target other than the target of the coercion. So you can coerce a minion but a nemesis loses his free maneuver.
