Will guidance chips work with this upgrade?
Unguided rockets
No. You can't modify the attack dice from them with ANYTHING other than a Focus token spent in the normal way.

Let me answer your question with another question:
Are Guidance Chips the same as spending a Focus token in the regular way?
No they are not. They dont even come close, since GC allows you to change (any) one die result of a Missile or Torpedo Attack to a hit (or even a crit if primary attack value is 3 or higher) once per round.
So this far, there is no focus (token spending) involved.
UR specificaly states that your attack dice can be modified only by spending a focus token for its standard effect. Which is turning focus dice results into hits.
Additionally UR are pretty much immune against countermeassures.

And therefore, they don't work, because the only way UR can be modified is with a focus token's default effect.
Literally the only things you can do with UR that is outside the usual, are:
- Hux's Fanatical Devotion to make one die unblockable. The effects of FD aren't dice mods.
- Effects like Ruthlessness that do something on a hit/after attacking, that isn't modifying dice.
You can also:
- roll extra dice - Opportunist, for example, works on secondary weapons.
- modify the defender's dice - so stuff like Crack Shot or outmanouvre.
Missed opportunity here FFG. I wish Unguided Rockets said: You cannot use a TL to re-roll dice during this attack.
That would give CPT Jonus a reason to exist.
He already does. Massed cluster missiles squads are generally his bag in standard games, but he's most terrifying in Epic - give him Swarm Tactics, Systems Officer, and fly him next to a Raider-Class Corvette with Ordnance Tubes. it's a beast.

TLT Aggressors would like to have a word with you.

Epic, da **** is that?
The same format where Corran Horn is generally rubbished for not being Etahn A'Baht, rather than the other way around.
It does turn a lot of meta assumptions on their head.
I guess I'm just lucky that we do play it regularly around here; 1 week per month is epic games & mission games.

X-Wing game scale gets epic when huge ships are used in a game. Meaning corvettes, frigates and the likes. Then its 300 pts right?

Sarcasm just doesn't work in plain text sometimes.
I've been playing X-wing since 2014 and I've played exactly two epic matches. Its just not a popular format here. Truthfully I didn't really enjoy it much either. X-wing to me is one of those games that you get diminishing returns the bigger it gets.

I agree. For me, it's all about starfighter dogfights. And the inclusion of frigates and corvettes weren't really warranted. Even the influx of more large ships into the game is becoming tiresome.
