Coosl stuff inc and miniature market provide nice options for us here in the states. I wish everyone had them.

Definitely. I lurked around my FLGS eyeing the core (I didn't want just one) and wave 1 for a number of months before CoolStuff had a 50% off sale on all their Armada stuff and I jumped. That initial buy-in helped me get started with the game and also helped me support my FLGS down the line.

Don't get me wrong, I love throwing love at my FLGS, but Cool stuff gets me so much more for my $.

Yeah, especially when you hit the free shipping mark. It's like buying bulk at Costco ... and subsequently, I end up as a Level 9 CSI customer asking myself one of two things when the package arrives (sometimes both), "This is awesome! When and where can I get my next game in?" ... "Oh no, how do I make sure the FLGS manager doesn't find out what I've done?" :o

Pick up at least one VSD expansion so you get Motti, Corruptor, and flight controllers. But, yes two damage decks are nice to have for home games.

I have a VSD expansion already. I have at least two of every thing except home one and pheonix home.

It seems like cool stuff and miniature market haven't had a big armada or x-wing sale in a long time. Did asmodee stop them from having those big sales a few times a year?

Whoo

They also upped all of the prices. Used to be about 25-30% off retailabout a year to a year and a half ago. Now it's only 15ish% off, I think.

Yes sadly I've noticed an increase in their prices also.

I'm glad I got the deals I got before this happened. The new pricing makes it a wash when deciding where to buy as the prices are the nearly the same. I get 20% off at my FLGS, however, they have a hard time keeping stock and they don't do pre-orders due to previous distribution inconsistencies. As a result, I make most of my Armada pre-orders from CSI with a base 15% off plus my additional 5% off bcuz they've made so much money on me (and I will occasionally pick up a few of the old WotC SW Minis at 15% off for additional IA proxies, custom cards, or miniatures for the SWRPG).

Cool stuff would have some great deals on x-wing and armada back in like the wave 2 days. I got 2 of each wave 1 release plus an extra movement tool and dice for $100. I miss those days.

I loved my FLGS, but the Armada support just isn't there. It could be good for them, but I feel like they see the round times as an inconvenience. I've yet to finish a 3rd round in there without someone coming in and telling us we had to wrap it up early. X-wing is a nice fast game for them, ditto the TCGs. Armada seems to be just considered taking up space. At that, even X-wing has been given something of a back seat of late, too.

Price wise, I've always bought my X-wing stuff from them, but the prices they're putting on Armada stuff is prohibitive. It's getting that way with X-wing, too. I don't mind paying a bit extra to support local and grow the game, but when the cost of a ship is in excess of 30% more in the store... well money is money.

I've actually ordered from MM in the past. The CR90 for X-wing was so expensive on launch here, that it was still cheaper to wait a bit and pick up one on MM, have it shipped to Ireland, and pay the 35-40% extra charges in customs.

Yes, there was a major adjustment in pricing to sellers (pre-customer) last summer. That's why the sales haven't been as big or as frequent, and why the standard prices aren't as heavily discounted.
