This Crab fiction was awful. It didn't have enough Crabs in it.

There was literally 100% more crabs in this fiction than in either of the two that came before it. I don't know what you're complaining about. ;)

Mitsu had his dragon tattoo. That's good enough for me. :D

But the Dragon tattoo is pretty awful.

Mitsu’s sole decoration was his tattoos, which his near nakedness put on glorious display. They wreathed his torso and arms and even his lower legs: monkeys and crows, centipedes and dragonflies, a great crab across his chest and a tiger across his back, and the head of a dragon arching up his neck and over his shaved scalp.

That is a single crab! It was a great one, but only one. Like I said, not enough.

This one is interesting, because neither of Mitsu's incarnations had the Crab Tattoo.

A single Crab is infinite times more than no Crabs, Sensei says.

It is the only other great clan animal besides his own on him.

He seems a little macho for a Unicorn tattoo :P

This just popped up in my mind..... If Yokuni is simply a former Togashi monk and not Togashi-no-kami himself..... No more Hoshi or Satsu.... But if this Yokuni is a mortal, it makes for more interesting stories of Dragon involvement.

... or maybe not macho enough? I'm sure a Crab would be more than macho enough to rock a pink unicorn tattoo.

I bet O-ushi could pull it off

Personally, if you tasked me with a quest of "Prepare a Dragon Clan for the reboot, making sure to capture the essential feel of the Clan while also making it sustainable for a potentially infinite number of future storylines", I would definitely start meditating upon Kami Togashi. I think that, between all options, the best one is to acknowledge that "Dragon Clan is special because their founding Kami is directing them through visions and offering cryptic advice, making his presence constant and intimate", while also noting that this doesn't force him to be a mastermind of the 1000 years, and that it also doesn't force the 2nd Day of Thunder Prophecy. It also doesn't need the physical presence of the Kami himself.

So an approach where Kami Togashi is:

1. In contact with his clan through visions and cryptic advice

2. Not physically present in the House of Light

3. NOT literally all of the Dragon Clan leaders

Is the best of the all worlds. It preserves the feel of the Dragon Clan as the clan directly guided by the Kami, and without being anchored to a single prophecy, it allows them to be a wildcard in many future stories where Dragon try to do their best based on prophecies they receive. In RPG terms, it would turn Kami Togashi into their quest giver.

Not making his descendants him is a boon, imho, because this allows you to keep them as their own characters with their own personalities, goals and flaws.

But most importantly, "Dragon Clan receives a vision, Dragon Clan ponders what to do about the vision" places focus on the DRAGON CLAN, not on the single character in it. Togashi is not the whole Dragon Clan, and I'm probably going to be staked for saying this. And he shouldn't.

Because the Lion aren't just threatening your boarders but your story threads too. ^_^

Wait what? When did this turn into a naval conflict?

Or are the Lion currently threatening the Dragon clan's paying lodgers?

My apologies, but the word you want is borders: the boundary between two areas of land controlled by different entities.

It did have alot of bald people though. Everybody loves bald people :)

Well, for all we know, Hitomi is as bald as her previous version.

Indeed.

And as a proud member of the slap-head community, I thouroughly endorse this fiction for its positive portrayal of Bald Persons. :)

Sure! :P

No, that's the Shadowlands Horde, not the Spider.

The teachings of the Divide by Zero Sect? You're on the Kitsuki watchlist now, samurai!

Technically, yes, if the Tonbo still exist.

I've spent ages trying to get the Tonbo an actual Courtier school, but still we are only Shugenja :(
