Imperial Ace 38 Points

By IgotTargetlocked, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hey

Im doing a storechamp in 2 weeks time,

Going to fly my beast of Rac , with vi, kylo, vader , Gunner, EU at 62 points

But what wingman would you take?

Been having sucsess with Ryad , Mareek and Quickdraw, What would you do?

// Jakob

starkiller base pilot with FCS, Tactician, Weapons guidance, & pattern analyzer. 38 points.

You get anoth beast 4 dice attack. Some stress control, Can red stop and still focus (one time at a time), and loads of hp to soak up some damge!

For giggles

• Colonel Vessery - Tractor beam - Veteran Instincts - TIE/D - Twin Ion Engine Mk. II
I would give him Ruthlessness but you'd need 2 points and VI is good to get him firing either before or after Rac if needed.

38 points is enough for Echo with VI, FCS, ACD, and int agent. Though I've got no idea whether phantoms are any good in the current meta.

I'd try this

"Echo" (38) - TIE Phantom
Push The Limit (3), Fire Control System (2), Intelligence Agent (1), Stygium Particle Accelerator (2)

Something similar was mentioned on another thread. The key is after decloak you get the free evade action which can trigger ptl. You have of course dialled in a green manoeuvre to clear the stress for another action. So decloak > evade action > ptl action > stressed > green manoeuvre > normal action

Wow that Echo idea is nasty. Here is what I run alongside my RAC with good success.

"Quickdraw"(37) ["Quickdraw"(29), Fire Control System(2), Special Ops Training(0), Lightweight Frame(2), Expertise(4)]

But I have to to say after seeing that phantom build this is tempting:

Rear Admiral Chiraneau(61) [Rear Admiral Chiraneau(46), Engine Upgrade(4), Gunner(5), Rebel Captive(3), Adaptability(0), Kylo Ren or Vader(3)]

"Whisper"(39) ["Whisper"(32), Push The Limit(3), Fire Control System(2), Stygium Particle Accelerator(2)]

Quickdraw allows healthy initiative bid and both pilots to run at 9, rather than both pilots running at 7... big difference in today's I meta, I believe.

Quickdraw

Backdraft

Rexler

Maarek

Ryad

Vessery

Vader

Maybe WHisper or Echo, but I think running 4 hull ships in that capacity is just asking for bomb problems

Then you start running low on good options.

I've taken that RAC, with the addition of the Dauntless title, with the below Quickdraw to two top cuts in the Store Champs season (the only two store champs I've made it to). It's an absolutely solid choice, and I suspect Quickdraw outperforms most of the above, due to survive-ability, lethal-ness, and the ability to trigger Kylo.

Quickdraw
A Score to Settle (Helps get those crits against the most troublesome ship)
FCS
Pattern Analyzer (for clutch sloops and one hards)
Title
LWF

That & Dauntless leaves you with one point for initiative. Honestly, though, it is very, very rare that I care about initiative, as I can make either work to my benefit with this list. And, more often than not, my opponent gives me my preferred initiative anyways.

This idea has been around for a long time, but there's a reason you don't see it often. Its kind of dumb, frankly!

Losing Advanced Cloaking Device, just to be able to triple action once (stress free) is actually not a good trade-off. You see, Stygium means uncloaked for the rest of the shooting phase (and the subsequent planning phase) and both Whisper and Echo thrive on being able to cloak every turn! That is what makes them powerful. But by all means, try it out and see for yourself.

Please do let us know your 38 point idea as well ;)
