The Duskblade Question

By Drakthal, in Runewars Rules Questions

Hi guys

So i just quickly wanted to ask what your ruling is on the ability of the Duskblade. Normally FFG is great at remembering to write a minimum value but they have not on the Duskblade. Therefore the question is, what do you do with the duskblade against an enemy that already have 1 defence? I would say they cant be lower than 1 defence but anyone playing with it being possible to kill units by lowering their defence to 0?

Best Regards

I don't think it needs any further rules. The minimum a defense can be is one.

RR 24.2 All modifiers to a unit’s defense are cumulative. After all modifiers have been applied, if a unit’s defense value is less than one, it is treated as one.

Ahh thanks

Also, if it ever did go to 0, the unit would just implode since you take a wound every time you take damage equal to your defense. If you're defense is 0 then 0 damage wounds you, so you'd just die. With BrewUp's clarification this is just theoretical Runewars though and we'll probably need a Hadron Collider to ever test it ;)

Not quite. YOu'd have to actually TAKE damage to trigger it, it's just that that damage would do infinite wounds and the unit would immediately die entirely.

It might be an interesting upgrade, actually, something along the lines of -1 armour, and when a unit deals damage to you in melee, it takes wounds equal to the wounds it deals you.

Come on, charge me. I dares ya.
