Hello Armada community, this will be my first post on the forum. I will be taking this fleet to a local tourney soon. Sadly, I don't have a very big collection of Armada, though. Any comments and criticisms on how to change the fleet will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

I like the idea with the fleet my only advice is that galling haven isn't an ideal card unless your fighters are for lure defence purpose and not attacking the enemy I would remove it and try to get Nora in your fleet!

I would be hesitant to drop Gallant Haven, as it usually keeps my X-wings alive until its time to start bombing or the enemy squadron force has been decimated. It has even saved Luke and Wedge's butts more than a few times!

Sadly, I don't have Nora, but when I do get CC, I will probably drop an x-wing and the y-wings for Nora and Biggs.

What's the plan for the 8 squadrons but only 5 (regular) squadron commands?

Also, I'm not sure it's worth it, but it might be nice to have Dual turbolaser turrets on GH so it can be a little more dangerous at range.

I do like the list. I have tried a similar GH plus Mc30 with E-wings. I'm still getting the hang of it, but Flight Commander makes it so much easier to keep the fighters positioned right with GH.

The Y-wings don't really need the squadron commands until turn 4-5.

I'm glad! I was also thinking about adding E-wings eventually, if and when I actually get them. I will give the flight commander idea some thought, it sounds like a good one!

EDIT: I dropped the two Y's for 1 X-wing squadron, increasing the bid to 15 pts.

Biggs wants to join in so badly. See if you can borrow a copy at the tourney, he would be worth eating into your bid a little for.

Hmm, I'll check into that...

Okay, so I called the store and they said I might be able to borrow a Biggs Darklighter, if so I will swap an x-wing squad for it, though I might feel a little nervous with only a 9 pt bid.

I guess i depends on how much you need to be first player? Do you know what meta in the area is like? I've heard of some bids being over 20 in some areas.

The only thing that really seems to want the first activation is the mc30. But I think it could do fine going 2nd. And your objectives seem good. Luke and APT with dodonna and precision strike would be most excellent.

Yeah normally I would outbid my opponent and make them go first so they have to deal with my objectives, and allows them to get in range of my big guns(mc30c)

Ahhh, gotcha, that makes sense. Well, if you have to go first your mc30 can really make use of it. Though I suppose out-activating is the danger with only 4 ships. When is your tournament? I'd like to hear about the results!

My tournament is actually tomorrow, June 24! I will promise to do a batrep with the best of my memory, though there will most likely not be pictures.

My goal for the tourney is to not get last place, anything above last place would be fine! They say we'll be doing 4-5 rounds, so my goal is at least 15-20 points.

The tournament went well! 14 players ended up going, and we ended up playing only three games. I got 7th place, sitting at 17 tournament points.

Round 1: I was playing against a fleet similar to mine, with the exception of less squadrons and swapping the AFB for an MC80 command cruiser with Defiance, Lando, RBDs. He also had a TRC corvette with Jainas Light, which was a huge pain in the *** the whole game. He was flat out at 400 points, so I made him go first. We played Precision Strike. Mistakes were made, and in the end, he ended up wiping out everything of mine, with the exception of my transports, which escaped into the corner. I was only able to destroy his MC80. 3-8 Loss.

Round 2: Again, playing against another fleet similar to mine, with no ship differences. My opponent's fleet was commanded by Sato. It had a MC30c Scout Frigate, an AFB with Sato and RLBs, flight commander, and a corvette A with Jaina's Light, as well as a Bright Hope Transport with Slicer Tools.( Super ANNOYING!) His squadrons were Hera, Dutch, Wedge, a Y-wing squadron, an E-wing squadron, and Ten Numb. He was also at 400 points, so I made him go first, and we played hyperspace assault. My corvette went into hyperspace, later jumping right behind My opponent's AFB flagship, killing it with a double arc. I was also able to kill all of his squadrons, while he killed a few x-wings and my AFB. 7-4 win.

Round 3: This time, I played against an imperial fleet, consisting of Demolisher with Engine Techs, APTs, an arquitens light cruiser with TRCS, and 3 gozantis, one carrying Ozzel. The other two gozantis had BCCs and EHB. His squadron compliment consisted of 5 generic TIE bombers, Jonas, Rhymer, Tempest Squadron, 2 lambda shuttles, and a jumpmaster 5000. He called this list "The Ode to the Nerf Herder." He did that because he was using demolisher with Engine Techs, Rhymer, and 2 BCCs just 2 days before the new errata and nerfs came into play.(laugh) He had a 3 point bid, and after a very long decision, I made him go second. We played his Fighter Ambush. He ended up alpha striking my corvette turn 1, crippling it and decimating its shields, with no damage cards. I moved my fighters to intercept him and ended up destroying most of his bomber wing, but not in time to save the corvette. I just wanted to share this awesome roll I got about turn 4. The assault frigate had a side arc shot at demolisher at red range. Demolisher didn't have his evade token due to a critical effect I landed on him earlier.( Thank you, Dodonna!) 3 red dice coming at him from long range, and all three landed DOUBLE HITS! That's like a 1/512 chance, correct me if I'm wrong. Demolisher ended up burning his redirect and using his brace just to prevent dying. In the end, I ended up killing his Demolisher, and most of his bomber force. He killed my corvette and half my x-wings. 7-4 win.

I ended up getting in the top 8, so I got the Gr-75 Alt art card, as well as the five acrylic evade tokens.

Conclusion: The tournament was a lot of fun, I ended up doing better than I expected! Being First player on that last round actually went pretty well, especially for the MC30c, being able to get away from demolisher before it could open up on the Mc30c. I need to get a little better at positioning Gallant Haven, especially because it ended up doing basically nothing at all during the whole tourney, because I positioned it too far away from the x-wings. I will keep trying to get better with Gallant Haven's positioning, though I might drop it one of these days!

You know, I was thinking if I replace the CR90 with two more flotillas, It would strengthen my bid or allow more points for squadrons.

Maybe I should drop the bid for utility items like Leia and Boosted Comms or extra squadrons?

I really think you want a bid. This fleet will play much poorer without first activation, especially since second is not guaranteed.

Replacing Dodonnas pride with a pair of flotillas would help to give you first/last in some cases which would probably benefit the fleet more than leia or boosted coms. However, there is an argument that more squads would be equally helpful as it would help increase the effectiveness of the flotillas.

So... are you saying that I should keep the bid?

There's not really a hard and fast rule. I'd say 8 is a solid number, it will get you your choice of first or second against most who bid for second. The only fleets that will beat you will be MC30 and Demolisher small unit spams that bid deep to make sure their glass cannons can fire and scoot before taking return fire. Since you are less reliant on Admonition its not an absolute necessity for you, but it will be very nice when you get it.

So I am thinking about buying two flotillas, one with comms net and leia, giving me four extra points in place of the CR90. I am also thinking about getting CC and swapping out the 4 x-wings for Biggs, Norra, and gold squadron, gaining another four points. So now my bid is 23! Do you think maybe I should lower it?

Yes. Id consider 11 the highest bid worth taking.

Hmm.... another X-Wing? Puts it at 10, but that is still solid. Or a generic Y-wing and skilled first officer on the Assault Frigate and MC30. The first is probably better mainly because the latter is more card dependent if you lack the SFO's.
