Lifeboat Flotillas

By Sygnetix, in Star Wars: Armada

Just stopped by to say I told you so. Carry on.

About friggin time they nurfed this.

I always thought it was silly to bring a ship who's sole purpose was to flee battle. Sure, I've put my commander on a flotilla in the past, but he'd ride in right behind my Star Destroyers.

Tired of lifeboat flotilla try our new and exciting lifeboat hammerheads!!!

True, but without the scatter of the flotilla, much less survivable to a large pool of dice.

Just thought some more...even if it does run away on the board, at least it cost more then 18 points.

Rebel lifeboats now cost double their base cost.

Imperial lifeboats now cost 21 points more.

Also Imperial lifeboats now have Speed 4.

So... Imperial lifeboats got buffed?

Only if you think Speed 4 is worth 21 points more than before.

God, the thought of using a Raider as a lifeboat just hurts my soul. It's like assigning the care and transportation of your fragile-boned grandma to the warboys from Mad Max.

The upside is if she survives it, she's going to learn some very colorful language and gain an appreciation for vehicular manslaughter.

If.

I live! I die! I crochet again!

I mean, if nothing else, I see it as a soft way of promoting the use of larger, tankier ships that can survive the commander being hunted down, at least for a while. The other side of that is that you can also just stick them in CR90s and Arqs and have them run circles around long range. It's not like they're doing something else anyway.

I would say 44 more, but I agree with speed 4 assessment ;)

That I'm completely okay with, honestly. It puts your commander at risk a bit for some moderate payoff. If your opponent wants to dedicate the resources to chase down the harassment skirmisher ship with a commander onboard, they can. Otherwise, there's bigger fish to fry. The commander is still contributing to the battle rather than running away from it.

This was a good and impactful gameplay change

It's a good change for thematic gameplay also. It would be frustrating to see a flotilla hiding from the battle.

You, sir, win the day!

Not going to lie, I'm disappointed. I expected more assaults against FFG from the fanbois who apparently switch sides with the FAQ. They were some real ******'s when I brought this up a few months back, given every one of them (to a man) who said it "wasn't over used", used it in EVERY single list they posted.

Well last time you posted your thread you had been a complete jerk for weeks so many were struggling to seperate their feelings about you from that thread.

Part of the issue wasn't so much that it was happening, but it was happening and was allowed under the Rules .

I mean, trying to explain:

To some - like yourself, dare I say, the life-boating was a bad thing always .

Totally a legitimate personal opinion to have, of course - but the problem was attempting to enforce (and/or coerce) other people to agree.

Of course, people disagreed - At least in part, because it was legal to do. There was nothing other than personal opinion and the backup personal opinion of "thematic" that supported the position. Again, quite a legitimate personal stand to take, but it didn't have more than that in the Rules of the Game.

Cue now, where things change.

Now , its supported by the Rules. Full stop. End of Story.

Of course the people who play to the rules change over. Now its not someone else imposing upon them a way to play the game in spite of the legalities of it.

Lifeboat or not, I didn't really mind. I mean, I used it sometimes, didn't others, opponents occasionally used it against me... It was just part of the time.

Personally, I only took umbrage when I was told I shouldn't be doing it by other players.

Lol, if you say so, dear. Feel free to quote me a rational response from you and your ilk that wasn't laden with e-superiority complex, pompous pontificating about how anyone against lifeboat flotillas are a bunch of noobs and how thinking FFG would listen to anyone against lifeboat flotillas were fools.

I'll wait.

The way I (and a handful of others) were treated on the issue warrants a little "I told you so", Dras. We can disagree on that but as you pointed out....that's my opinion.

The way you were treated was equal to how you treated others.

I am not going to get into a pissing contest with you about it.

Enjoy the lack of lifeboats. Happy flying.

Throughout two threads, I repeatedly quoted the initial posts of you and the others. Not one was a polite, rational post to support your position(s). Again, to a man, you all entered the post exactly as I described above.

Hence why the challenge to quote me a rational response from (any) your ilk was met with a deflection, a declaration of moral superiority, and a parting quip.

Hence why I get to say "I told you so."

I told you so.

I'm posting so that this guy doesn't get the last word.
