What would you trade for Biggs?

By freakyg3, in X-Wing

An X-wing title that works like recon specialist.

Functionnal X-wings and B-wings, and some generics with EpT on OT ships.

Quite frankly i always felt Biggs' ability should have been an action called Escort - Choose 1 friendly ship at range 1 and assign an Escort token to it.
Escort Token: When you are defending, the attacker rolls 1 fewer dice per Escort Token

Rebels are not the only one to escort other ships, the Lambda is usually being escorted as well and im pretty sure a band of pirates would escort their big carrier ship *cough* CROC *cough*

Somehow i played for a good 4 months without ever seeing Biggs when i started and i always found it odd there wasnt an escort mechanic, even for huge ships. Biggs shouldnt be the only ship with that ability, and the only two cards right now that share his ability are insanely difficult to even get anything out of (Selflessness being a 1 use means if its poke damage it wont do jack and it only blocks Hits, while Draw Their Fire only works on a single Crit and BOTH eat your ept and finding a good ship for them isnt easy)

Mission 1 Political Escort. Protect Action. Made it never to ordinary 100/6.

Your escort idea would be more useful, though.

He is far from a crappy play experience. Fat Han was a crappy play experience. Triple scouts were a negative play experience, alpha nuking your list on turn 2. X/7 pre nerf was a negative play experience, because no matter what you did you were up against 4 evades every round of shooting.

Biggs is an annoyance, but not game breaking.

When I mean "crappy play experience", I'm talking about how he controls your choices, he takes away your ability to choose; to me, anything that attempts to do that --in life, or in a game-- is crappy. Therefore, I choose not to play him and, when I have a choice, I don't play against him.

Palp was powerful; one dice change, that was hard sometimes, by it didn't change your control, or your dice. Biggs however, crosses that line for me; I may be weird, fine. But I don't like it. It's subjective sure, but to me, he's OP and needs a nerf; for the game and a T-65 buff.

Id give up biggs for an extra 2 hull on every 1 agility rebel ship and 1 hull on every 2 agility rebel ship.

So now if you fly double arcs and Jess you get 5 extra hull and more firepower with jess, instead of 3hull/2shields biggs and less firepower (no rerolls).

Edit: Small ships only

native boost to ARC

Thane 's free action triggers regardless of whom is shot

Braylen 's ability is guaranteed

Shara gives re-rolls to other friendlies when they attack the ship she has locked; they don't have to spend it

and not a **** thing less

Control has always been a part of game design.

Look at the upcoming Bomb upgrade shenanigans in wave 11. Your opponent now has control of where you go during the course of the game. Sure you can choose not to fly through the bombs, but if they have their wall set up right, you'll have to fly through either an asteroid or bomb in order to get into striking distance of their ships.

Or Boba Fett crew? Opponent lands a crit and now one of your upgrades is gone. That's a form of control.

It's fine if you don't like him or his ability. I don't care much for the Fang Fighter, but people still play it, and i'll still fly against it. And you don't have to take him in your list either if you don't want to. I just disagree needs to be dramatically changed, based on the plethora of secondary options that elimnates him in one to two turns now even with his damage mitigation droid onboard.

Biggs isn't a problem. Move along, move along.
