Come and join the Arm...ada Wiki Timing Project!

By Triangular, in Star Wars: Armada

Dear fellow Admirals,
it's now nearly one year, that I started to update and enhance the Star Wars Armada Wiki ( http://starwars-armada.wikia.com ). Next to the information about Expansion Packs, ships, squadrons, and upgrades, I began to integrate parts of the rule books. Lately I started a project to write for every Upgrade Card a sentence about the timing, because that's the issue confusing new players the most. (I know how confused I was!)

But the project is huge and I have things to do in real life as well. Sometimes I feel lonely doing the work all alone. ("Grumbleduke" joined and helped this summer from time to time, what I appreciate very much. Thank you, Grumbleduke!) I would be very glad if one or two of you join in as well. I know, lots of you are very keen with the rules of this game and give precious advice here in the forum. Maybe you want to share your wisdom also on the Armada Wiki.

So come and join the project!

I was wondering who kept the wiki up to date. Thanks for your work!

Congratulations, the wiki is amazing, and was extremely helpful for me as a starter. I'd help, but I'd end up with a wrong timing on half of them

I'm not entirely sure how useful that is, as it stems more from not understanding the games timing and segments, rather than the cards being wonky/odd on timing (they are incredibly specific, generally).

I think it helps quite a lot newcomers who want to use the card, for example I thought at the beginning that OP on Avenger could work and be resolved in first front shot, and then Avenger came in play

Which goes back to understanding that spending defense tokens happens before critical effects, but to frame how every card doesn't work would be quite the situation. To write OLP happens during apply crit effects is a bit redundant, as it is a crit effect.

I'm also a fan of the wiki, well done!

I have no idea whatsoever what his availability is like, but @Drasnighta would be perfect for the job, in my opinion.

I know @geek19 and I give brief asides on timing/rules interactions for upgrades we review for Cannot Get Your Ship Out so I'd feel like I was just doing the same job all over again, haha.

This may help....

Thank you for trying to help. But what's needed isn't so much expertise, but manpower. Even when the timing for a card is quite clear, it takes a time to write (or copy-paste) a text in the wiki. And there are lots of things to do beyond timing questions.

But... when I think of it. Expertise or creativity is wellcome, too. When it comes along with a helping hand. So come and join the wiki-party! Don't just talk about it.

(Yesterday Grumbleduke did all the updates to include the new faq. So I had to set in the images only. That was great! I love him!)

I probably have a hour or 2 at weekends would that help?

Sure it does. Even if you just stroll through the wiki to correct typing and test the links. A wiki should be an enceclopedia written by a cloud. Till now it's nearly a one-person-cloud.

Cool. If you pm me areas you want done looked at will take a gander Saturday morning

I can't help with time as much as others, but I give you blanket permission to grab any art assets you want from KDY to be used on the wiki, such as upgrade types, defense tokens, keyword symbols etc. They are SVG files, so better than straight PNG images.

So failed to do this due to family stuff over the weekend. Will try and give a look on the 8th and 9th.

I know you! This wiki has been a lifesaver. (I type as as I sit at work.)

Hi all Admirals out there,

the Armada Timing Project is done and goes into test phase. Please come to the wiki and run through some of your favourite Upgrade Cards or Squadrons Cards. Corrections and comments are wellcome! (And already made by some. Thank you!) I think of creating a own "Timing Page" with an overview of all "slots" when effects come into play.

If you appreciate my work (and of all others who were building and helping) create an account at the wiki. That will make communication easier!

As a wise man said: "There's nothing good, except you will do it."

One thing that would be better is if they focused on where generally new players would have issues, such as specifying on the OP that it happens after spending tokens. Other than that, great job and thank you for your great effort!!!!

I fixed a Hondo timing thing on the wiki last night.

You think of defense tokens? That's specified. (Attack Step 4 "Spense Defense Token") Otherwise I don't get it.

Yes, I saw it and appreciate it very much. Thank you for your help!

Yeah, but it says in timing it's on the step 5, but not many new players will know by this. They'd have to look up the RRG and see what happens before phase 5.

Using OP again as an example, when I first started, I had read the rules and knew, but when I saw OP's effect, I thought "that's great with Avenger". Even if I had read the timing for it, I'd think the same thing. I'm saying about additionally having sonething that is also relevant to uses, such as "This effect is resolved after the defender spends token", so that new players can look at it and know its pros and cons

Okay did that for Overload Pulse and Dodonna's Pride. Are there more examples?

None come to my head at the moment

And thanks :D

The timing for Assault Proton Torpedoes/ACM has led to many a confused and frustrated new player. Because even though you spend the tokens before the crit effect, the crit effect then happens before you finish resolving each token.
