Ended 310:158 MOV 8-3 to me. Played Vics Planetary Ion Cannons

That Avenger with boarding troopers is obscene. Did 9 dmg on my vic and there was nothing I could do about it. Outside of that, Slicers tools prevented the ISD from activating squadrons turn 2 and let me get control of the squad game dropping Soontir taking no damage in return. Planetary ion cannons wrecked but did not kill my ISD which was kind of the plan as my Lambda had ferried a token away from the other ships.

I still dont see why people like the idea of Sloane.

Well. you were playing against a Sloane list with 11 squadrons that can only activate 6. And the Raiders are not even there for squadron commands. He could never bring the squadrons in position for a good attack. Your ISD still had all defense tokens in the end (this alone tells something).
In your match the squadrons were not the danger. It was the Avenger on it's own. And this is a bad sign when Sloane is the Commander.
But Sloane become really insane if she can use all the squadrons that are there, and focus them on one target. On your match they were sitting around most of the time and ever not able to attack anything.

It is a list with only 3 ships, that is testing out a lot of stuff (Sloane, Tie Fighters, Boarding Troopers, Avenger, Raiders, RLB, External Racks, ...). Way to much stuff in that is not working well together.
The list is not bad, but i assume build with the intention to test the new cards.

Roquax list is way more dangerous, and well balanced. And if he didn't had to drop so many games, he would be really far on top.

I'm hard pressed to even consider this result for the moment. The new FAQ changes so much I'm not even sure this event matters aside from acknowledging what did and did not work in the old meta.

I like several new upgrades, but this should have had a reset period like last year to reset fleets when the new ships or FAQ were revealed. The game has radically changed since the tournament started. But naturally @Green Knight could not have anticipated that.

I realised how badly planned my fleet was only once I started the first game. I have no idea why I picked Raiders, they can't activate Sloane squads effectively and are useless with Boarding troopers. I'm still surprised I sneaked some victories in this tournament

All true, but you proved one thing. Boarding troopers Avenger is an unholy thing. Its unavoidable. Tough enough to tank any first activation from the enemy. With or without Jerry maneuverable enough to hit its target.

As fleet start units go, thats a really low investment for a highly effective starter unit. So many different options to take with it.

Not sure Sloane is one of those options though.

I should have done this earlier so sorry for whatever repercussions it has, but I need to drop from the tournament @Green Knight. I've got far too much stuff going on to be able to commit to games. I've been lucky if I can snag a pick up game every once in a while.

JJs Juggernaut vs. Tokra is going on right now.

JJs Juggernaut vs. Tokra ended 76 vs. 364 in favor of Tokra. So a 9-2 with a MOV of 288 for me.

It was really a nice game, but JJ was a bit distracted. He made some mistakes he normally would not do.

We were playing his Most Wanted, with Bright Hope and Demo as objective ships.
This way i could really well abuse the Slicer Gozanti and the Demo. I was able to change the Squadron Command from the Mark II two times, and this ruined the whole squadron fight for him.
In the end i killed all but one CR90 and lost one Gozanti and 5 Tie Fighter + Valen.

The FAQ cannot come out soon enough. I abuse so many cards that get fixed. 3 of the FAQ changes affect this fleet. The Sloane+Rhymer combo would be way to strong.

Obscene is a great word for that combo, and I'm surprised they didn't see it prior to play testing....but maybe they did. Nerf's will change some things, that is pretty obvious.

They probably did see it and were testing options with Rhymer to see what was necessary to fix it. I'm glad that the option they chose was the one that resulted in the most risk for the affected units instead of just completely changing them. The lack of risk was the key element for all the cards they made core changes to.

Thanks for the kind words! Playing two games against the European time zones + two kids makes scheduling games difficult.

I've also been able to take what I learned in the last three matches and really tune the list - specifically the fighter component. I'm still tossing between Avenger and Demolisher. The former molests everything, but is not as maneuverable, the latter is more flexible.

Well you relly suprised my with your list... But those Gozantis are dead meat when mc30 fly's in... And when they die those ties are hopeless :) Any way Demolisher would be a good choice but im really concerned with its survivality...Avenger is more resilent

I was expecting to take out Admo with the ties - which they would have had i managed my squadrons better. Regardless, the list has undergone some significant upgrades due to play testing.

Hmmmm can you pm them to me? Really interested in the changes you made?

Lord Preyer vs. Darth Veggie 2-9 in my favour (MoV 246). Lord Preyer was such a pleasant opponent. Much more will follow.

Myself Vs @Dr alex should kick off at 1930 GMT today.

Edit: my PC has chosen now as the perfect time to install updates. I'm not sure how long it's going to be but I'll be online as soon as it's done.

Edit 2 (19:42): ugh. It's been 40 minutes and only at 25%. I've messaged @Dr alex but I'm not sure he's read it and may be waiting in Vassal. If anyone happens to be logged in there, could you please let him know. At the speed it's going, it's looking increasingly like I might have to concede as a no-show. FFS.

I've got the messages, fingers crossed windows doesn't ruin everything

Very sadly, Windows is looking like it's in a minimum 2 hours to update., Which makes it too late for me to fit the game in before I need to be asleep. We weren't able to fit it in before as I've been away at Glastonbury festival for a week and neither of us have a mutually free day before the deadline.

@Green Knight, I'm going to have to concede. This is a bit gutting for both of us so we've scheduled the match in as a friendly next Thursday, as we'd still like to play. This is after the deadline for the tournament so I don't expect you to extend the deadline, but if you preferred to wait a few days then you could include our results if you want.

Either way, we'll see how Dodonna fares against Leia. :)
