Help statting up a ship from a Christopher <WEST map.

By stonestokes, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

First a shout out to Christopher WEST and his awesome maps, especially his sci-fi maps:

I'm a long-time fan of his work.

One of the ships that he has that I'm really interested in is this one:

StarfighterCard.jpg

I wonder if anyone has already statted this thing up yet? Or if anyone would be interested in helping a new EotE/AoR GM do so.

Here's what I've got so far:

  • It looks to be about the same size as an A-Wing, give or take, with slightly smaller engines that are located mid-chassis instead of the more abaft A-Wing engines. So, I'm thinking it is probably slightly slower, and with not quite as good handling (or maybe the handling is the exact same given that it is slightly slower...so that both pilots can make about the same tight turning radius, but the A-Wing can do so at a higher velocity).
  • It looks a little more robust than an A-Wing, but not by much. Certainly no X-Wing or Y-Wing.
  • There is a rear-mounted turret that looks like it is capable of swinging somewhere in the 90 ° to 180° range. Given the small size, I'm thinking maybe an Autoblaster Turret with Firing Arc: Rear.
  • It looks like there are some light laser cannons mounted to either side of the cockpit OR there are some other structures located under the front winglets (but those might be related to the engines. I could really stand to hear your thoughts on THIS!
  • There is clearly an Astromech socket, so that goes in.
  • I cannot tell if the cockpit is a single pilot or possibly a pilot and a (rear-facing?) REO/Gunner. If there is a second seat in there, then that is who would be operating the rear turret. Otherwise, the droid?

Putting this all together, my first draft of this thing is:

Silhouette 3

Speed 5 (Same speed as an X-Wing, slightly slower than an A-Wing)

Handling +2 (Better than an X-Wing, not as good as an A-Wing)

Defense Front 1, Rear 1, Starboard —, Port —; (Same shielding as an X-Wing)

Armor 2 (Armor the same as an A-Wing. X-Wings and Y-Wings have 3)

Hit 7, Strain 7 (Just one more point than an A-Wing. I'm considering 8 for each of these instead?)

Hull Type/Class ???

Manufacturer ???

Hyperdrive Primary Class 1, Backup Class None

Navicomputer None — Astromech Droid Socket

Sensor Range Short

Ship's Complement One pilot, One Gunner, One Astromech

Encumbrance Capacity 4

Passenger Capacity 0

Consumables One week

Cost/Rarity 100,000/6

Customization Hard Points 1

Weapons One Turret Mounted Autoblaster (Fire Arc Rear; Damage 3; Critical 5; Range [Close], Auto-Fire), Forward-Mounted Light Laser Cannons (Fire Arc Front; Damage 5; Critical 3; Range [Close], Linked 1)

Thanks in advance for any insight you are willing to offer. :)

Statwise? It's a Y-Wing, maybe with 1 point less armor, and a little more handling/speed.

The turret looks like a twin light blaster cannon. The forward cannons might be blasters as well.

I don't see the thing more agile than a X-Wing, not when it is heavier armed, crewed and heavier in general.

Alas, I assume 2x2m tiles, if those tiles are supposed to be 1x1m than this is a super light thing, sil 2 like the Miy'til, armor 2, blaster turret, single seater with astromech for the arc: all light twin-blaster turret. Actually, you can take the Miy'til stats basically, just replace the torpedo launcher with the blaster turret.

I don't know what set that is from, but Sterling Hershey might have beat you to it .

Yes! It looks like he calls it the Talon-Class Starfighter! That's awesome, because I was also looking for a good name for it, and I love that one. Thanks. :)

He seems to also put the blaster turret as Firing Arc: Aft. Reminds me of SBD Dauntless:

Thanks again, to both of you.

Was just about to suggest checking out Sterling's blog for possible stats on the ship.
