Droid List

By Fabius The Strange, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

Do you have some suggestions for a Bt-1/0-0-0 Imperial List? I've bought them yesterday and i'd like to find a performing Imperial list for effectively playing this maleficent duo.

I use BT-1 alongside Sorin for a very droid focused list here:

Not really tried 0-0-0 as not sure where he really fits in to be honest. The Sorin list is pretty decent though, although it's a bit fiddly to play sometimes. I enjoy it though

To preface: I mostly play Scum.

I'm not thrilled with BT-1. The average roll for him without targeting computers is about 5D P2. That's nice, but not great. And without a surge for range, he has serious potential to miss attacks. For 6 points, there are too many better options, in my opinion. If I were doing an all-droid army, I'd probably rather have 2 regular Probes instead.

If you throw him in a Merc list with a eJawa and use Temp alliance to bring in Gideon and Hera then he gets a little more reliable because of her +2 accuracy. You could also throw Prey on the Weak on him and get an extra accuracy and pierce.

I played a store tournament Sat with IG-88, Shyla, Onar, Vinto, Greedo, eJawa, C-3PO. I loved it. I was originally trying to use BT-1 in there, but he just kept getting out-valued.

I'm thinking of swapping Greedo (4) and eJawa (3) for Temp Alliance (1), Gideon (3), rJawa (2) and Devious Scheme to get that extra focus, movement utility for IG-88/Shyla, and 2nd round initiative.

If you read the comic, there is a scene where BT-1 enters a village hunting his prey and starts blow everything to kingdom come. He kills literally dozens of people in this village. That's what BT is good for - Missile salvo. I've seen him hit targets 8-10 spaces away without a re-roll (targetting computer does serve him well though if he does it multiple times. Missile Salvo is designed to clear a room. His regular shot is great (4 dice) but the missile salvo outshines his regular attack. Does he deal more damage than Onar, no, most don't. I think he fits well in certain lists where he knows his place.

Sorin is expensive, but thematic, being able to stun 3 figures at once can cripple an army. Having extra damage or blast is also nice.

Really you could plug him into any Imperial list. because of the self-focus, he doesn't need a whole lot of specific command cards. Maybe Lock On or something else if you're running heavy stormtroopers. I like elite probe droids. I like Jet Troopers of both varieties. I like Dewbacks and Captain Terro. I really haven't had a chance to play imperials as much as some of the others. 000 is a little bit more of a mixed bag and I don't think he actually gels yet with his imperial counterparts. That may change as we get more brawler types. His Unnerving rule is great if you can set up a trap for the enemy, but you're probably going to lose him, so its kind of a double edged sword. He's very Hit or Miss (if only he could use Adv. Comms )

I haven't had much success with the Salvo. If he's in position to hit 3 guys, he's usually on a suicide-1-health-left type move, or he's going to get shot to death before his next activation. I've pulled a 3-hit salvo off a few times and don't recall doing more than 1-2 damage per hit. And then some of the shots missing entirely. His regular attack is good and has been way more valuable to me than his salvo.

If I were to play Imperial, yeah I'd find a place for him, but Scum have too many better options.

Yeah I have to agree here. Missle Salvo has been pretty disappointing in general for me. The only time I've seen it do decently is when you can get some blast surges off with it. The problem is that two dice attacks with the best surge as pierce 2 are pretty weak(see Rebel Troopers) I'd much rather use him to focus down somebody with a rainbow shot.
