Lets say you have a reanimates unit 3*3 with Ardus figure upgrade at front rank. Do u add the white die from Ardus ability when attaking with the back or side ? or you add it only when attacking with the front rank? For example in photo Ardus is next to Red die.

You don't lose the white die; you just lose your rerolls for attacking a flanking enemy.

yeah that 2x2 spearmen unit is in for some pain...

You lose any rank benefits (including rank discipline as it counts as having +1 full rank) and your threat is equal to the number of trays facing your target, which in this case is still 3.

Any other benefit you have, you still have. Including added dice or surge effects.

That 2x2* of spearmen is in for some serious hurting unless you roll blanks, since you cant reroll

The only really odd thing, to me anyway, about flanking is damage is still assigned normally as though they were head on. I can see why they did this so you cant flank someone and instantly gib their normal threat but it still feels odd to me lol

I'm going to tack on another question. I have the Ardus Ix'Erebus upgrade on a group of Reanimates, and they are near my Carrion Lancer and my Reanimate Archers. I manage to roll some hits and 3 surges. I spend 2 surges to give the target a blight token, thanks to the Archers. I have 1 surge remaining. Can I now activate my Carrion Lancer's surge ability, and deal a mortal strike, or is blighted/not blighted checked before the attack starts?

Yes you can do that. You can resolve the surge abilities in any order you want, so you put the blight token down, then mortal strike as many times as you have surges left.

wow. I totally missed it's possible to perform a melee attack when being flanked with the side or back.
