A weird TIE Bomber fix...

As of now, no bomblet generator for the good 'ole TIE Bomber, since it only has one bomb slot.

So, what if the TIE Shuttle Title had a line like this: "If this card is not equipped, add one additional bomb slot to your upgrade bar."

Essentially, if your TIE Bomber DOES NOT have the TIE Shuttle Title, then it has two bomb slots...which is the same as if they simply added a bomb slot to the upgrade bar, but it seems like changing text on an upgrade card is more closely aligned with how they "fix" things with errata/FAQ.

Thoughts? Or as one user suggested in another thread, is the TIE Bomber simply a shuttle now?

"If this card is not equipped and sitting in a box, where do you read that you get a bomb slot?"

Plus, now the chassis is not getting charged the points for the bomb slot. I love Imps, but I also love balance.

Or, how 'bout we let the TIE Punisher have a role in the game despite the irony it is not called a bomber.

Good point, Darth Meanie, so I really like that idea Kieransi! And it would be a simpler fix that way, too.

The question is, at only a total of 19 points, would a Scimitar Squadron (16pts) with Bomblet Generator (3pts) and a Bomb Loadout (0 pt) be any good?

5x Scimitar w/Bomblet, or 4X Scimitar w/Bomblet, LWF, Unguided Rockets would be kinda lolz, but probably really easy to avoid since bomblets are maneuver bombs and not action bombs, and they are low pilot skill. But 4x might be pretty good with unguided rockets - just drop a bomb and focus every round.

Bomblet is unique, so you can never get more than one of it. This is why I'm okay it can't go on the bomber. They may have undersold it a little at one bomb slot - but at the same time when it was put out, there was only so much to do with bombs but it does only have a singular bomb chute anyway. As a standard or "light" bomber profile it has some advantages over the Y-Wing which is really the only thing other than I guess the Quadjumper which can fill that role - barring crew ships with Sabine/Cad Bane (which have the same uniqueness problem as Bomblet). You can still EM on either of those platforms for double bombs at a discount, but it's alright if it can't fit this weird, experimental system of replenishing bombs.

Rapid bomb tubes

Torpedo slot, 2 points, Limited, Imperial only.

Add a (bomb) to your upgrade bar.

When you would deploy a bomb with a (straight) template,

instead reploy it with 1bankright and deploy

a copy of that bomb with 1bankleft.

Sabine gives extra range to bombs

Cad bane makes monbs more accurate

Imperials just get more bombs for the same price.

Maybe a bit nuts when you start dropping mines and completely cover the ship's backside. The downside of EM is that it still takes time to deploy that ordnance but this doubles it and increases deployment time.

Why try to fix everything with an errata when a new title or mod card would fix it? Errata's should be saved for fixes that can't be fixed with a new card.

Also, don't you think they made it two bomb slots specifically so it couldn't fit on ships like the Tie Bomber?

It's a bit more powerful than cad bane, though it's about on par with sabine for connors and seismics. It also is 2 points per ship instead of 2 points and a crew slot per list.

My own thought was to make bomb loadout require 2 torpedo slots and grant 2 bomb slots, but I'd be recosting bombs anyway to obsolite EM.

Obsoleting EM drastically changes the total number of bombs that ships end up carrying as well, which is not merely an issue of cost. Could still be a viable change, but my fixes tend to be far more boring. :)
