I'm liking the imperial design, can't wait to see it on something bit bigger like an VSD/ISD.

Thanks! I haven't managed to get an ISD yet (at this point I'll probably wait for the Chimaera), but a VSD is coming up at some point! I have a feeling it'll look nice on the Quasar too.
good kitty, can't wait to see a bigger imperial
That Kitten looks great! I was planning to do something similar with my Imperial ships, difference is that I'm planning on the ships being black with the stencil in blood red

Sounds good! I was toying with the idea of a black / dark grey base, but decided on a lighter one for better contrast since I wanted the purple quite dark. I think black+red will look fantastic, I'm excited to see it!
Next up, Gladiator and Gozanti!
I still haven't quite got the hang of window lighting (or glazing in general), but after finding @Darthain 's excellent advice in his thread I at least know what I'm trying to do now. Many thanks!
I was initially going to just forget about the symbol on the Gozanti, but gave it a go and it turned out half decent. It's so small that you get away with way less detail and precision. Now, the Raider I'm more worried about, but we'll probably get to that soon... Anyway, here we go!

This is amazing! How did you get the symbol on the Glad? Hand-painted or had a template?

Thanks! I cut out a template from a piece of paper to get the right proportions, but it was quite a rough one so I had to correct and straighten most of the edges by hand. I also had to widen the bit of the circle that's on the raised area so that it didn't look all distorted from above, so that bit's kind of eyeballed.
Looks sharp, I'm quite shocked I gave advice though.

Haha, your write-up on the Quasar helped me a lot. I think I'm still just not thinning the glazes enough so the transitions are too sudden, but I'm slowly getting there, I hope.

Ah yes, well I spit blend (two brush blend) stuff back, I've worked with glazes, but for the ships, far too fiddly, I achieve most in 1 layer per colour. The blending takes some practice is all, ships are great for that repetition. The other way to chase smooth gradients is just more layers between, instead of 50/50 between colours, do 66/33 and 33/66. Your gradients are fine I'd say, putting much more into each ship than that gets tedious very quickly.

Sorry, I was talking about glazing the window and engine lights. They're kind of hard to see properly in my crummy pictures though. The ship itself I just layer normally, but the blending back is a good tip I'll have to keep in mind.
Yay, last of the freehand (apart from the outer circle because circles are hard) icons for now! The remaining ones will be big enough for a template. Also, sorry for the grainy pictures but at least the grey looks much closer to the real life one because I took them in daylight rather than under a weirdly yellow lamp.
I'll be heading off to be with family for the holidays and probably won't take my painting stuff with me, so the Quasar and Victory will have to wait until January. I also finally bought a Liberty and the Squadron II packs, so those should be coming soon after.
Edited by VillakarvarouskuI was planning on finishing the Victory and wave 5 squadrons first before posting again, but it looks like that will take some time, so here's a Quasar in the meantime!
I could have been much bolder with the hangar lights (i.e. brought out the blue glaze more strongly and farther away), but maybe I'll redo it at some point in the future. The black and purple lines on the left side are also a bit wobbly, as you can see. Other than that, I'm pretty happy with the result! This was a fun one to paint, and the mostly flat surface meant I had a fairly easy time with the symbol.

Nice work! I really like the hangar bays, really makes them look like they do in universe. You don't see many quasar carriers being done but this one makes me want to get one myself!
Finished the Imperials for now! I think out of all my ships, the Vic really wears this design best.
Apart from some fiddly bits on the Decimator (mainly the thin ridges in the middle), I found all of the Squadrons II models really fun and surprisingly quick to paint. Defenders and Phantoms were a breeze compared to the other TIE variants, and the Lambdas especially felt super easy even though white and black are always a pain. I could have brightened up the purple bit on the shuttles more, especially on the black one, but can't be bothered to go back right now.
The new Defenders and Phantoms, along with the other TIEs as well as the rogues since I skipped them in the original post. The old stuff was painted almost a year ago now. I've yet to make up my mind about whether or not I want a cloak effect on the Phantoms, so I might add that later. The Defenders are slightly more blue in reality, and the phone camera really killed the bright orange on the Aggressor too.
That's it, folks! Here's the whole bunch again:
Next up:
- decide on what colours I want for the Rebel II squads, a feat I haven't been able to accomplish in the last two months of mulling over it
- figure out how on earth I'm going to make the MC80L look decent with my silly colour scheme

Well there is no ISD so clearly you arent done......
My rebel fleets is light blue and orange, my imperials are dark blue and orange.... see completely different! Why not go with Purple as the primary and grey as the secondary for the rebels?

I did say

That's next on the buy list.

I have a blue-green thing going on for the ships, just need to figure out a way to make it look nice on the Lib. I have a weird idea, we'll see. Squads are a whole mess of different colours, I'm just bad at making decisions.
Back to the Rebels! Some of the pictures seem to be particularly rubbish this time, so sorry about that. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I need to watch some Youtube videos or something.
First up, Squadrons II. I really enjoy the design of both the Ghost and the Shadow Caster, so I just copied them and did slight variations for the other two.
I quite like how the Z's turned out, but I'm not sure how I feel about the E-wings. They just look a bit funny and cartoonish. I might redo them at some point (edit: I did! See page 3) – probably try replacing the green with a more neutral colour first and see if that does the trick, or if not, I need to figure out something completely different. Luckily they were pretty easy and fun to paint, so that's not a horrible prospect.
While I'm at it, here's a bunch of old squadrons that I haven't posted yet. A's and B's as well as the Scurrg (i.e. all the ones I'm most proud of, although I rather fancy the Y's too) are in the original post if anyone's wondering.
Oh, and also:

That's everything I currently own finished, so it'll probably be a while for new stuff unless I get the urge to redo something. Top candidates are E-wings, YT-2400 and maybe a cloak effect for the Phantoms. The X-wings could use a do-over too, but considering how much of a pain they were to paint and how many of them there are, I honestly just can't be arsed.

Really like the patern on the Liberty. Everything looks great! Nice work!

I'm glad to hear that! This was one of those where I had no idea if it would look decent or completely awful, and I spent quite a lot of time sketching out the pattern trying to make it look balanced yet sort of random. Mostly I'm pretty happy with it too. Thanks for the kind comment, I appreciate it!

The more I look at it the more I like it. Especially the white accents that make its way across the entire ship.
Those white accents are great. I think I may add some sort of accents like that to mine as well.

If you don't mind me asking @Villakarvarousku where did you get the stencil for the imperial ships?
