Mine Mapper...

By Archangelspiv, in X-Wing

Is anyone else waiting with a small hint of devilishness to see the mayhem when two Mine Mapper lists face each other? If each list has 4 bombs each, plus the 6 obstacles, that's going to be some crazy crazy **** going down. IMO 4 bombs per list is a little bit conservative too.

Fortress builds anyone?

Fortress-wing may totally be a thing.

It's too bad tractor beams don't work on mines, because it would be an amazing counter for fortressing.

What we need now is a piece of ordinance like Seismic Torpedo that can explode mine and bomb tokens. Token explodes damaging all ships and other mine/bomb tokens within range 1.

You can control those crazy mine mapping by allowing ships to trigger mines by shooting at them from a distance during combat phase.

That would be unfortunate.

Time for new tourney scenarios then.

2 fortress list against each other = 0-0 draw that goes to time?

Seismics for mines. We could call them torplettes and the would be everlasting!

You don't really need to come up with any new upgrades card. Just allow ships to shoot (with the primary weapon) at the mines by rolling the attack dice. If any "hit" are rolled, the mine token is triggered - so that ship looses its attack shooting at the mine, instead of you. This calls for a more precise mine distance placement and not for boxing in opponents ships (especially if they placed all their ships at the corner).

Or allow non-action bombs (seismics, etc) to set off mines in range 1 on detonation.

There are no draws in X-Wing anymore. By the current tournament rules, if you're tied when time is called, you do a dice roll off to decide the winner. It's called "Final Salvo". You each roll red dice equal to the total printed attack value of your ships still on the table (or your whole squad if both squads were totally destroyed). Whoever rolls more hits+crits wins. If you get equal numbers, you reroll.

Captain Nym (Scum) — Scurrg H-6 Bomber30

Extra Munitions, Cluster Mines, Cluster Mines, Minefield Mapper, Havoc title

So the questions is: will mapper with Extra Munitions allow you to place 4 cluster mine?

I'm starting to think Connor Nets will be a better Mapped Mine than Clusters, unless you bring Cad Bane specifically. It covers almost as much of the field, and has more reliable penalties for being ignored.

I know right bc if you read both cards one says

Minefield Mapper

During Setup, after the "Place Forces" step, you may discard any number of your equipped bomb Upgrade cards . Place all corresponding bomb tokens in the play area beyond Range 3 of enemy ships.

where munitions says:

Extra Munitions (limited)

When you equip this card, place 1 ordnance token on each equipped type and Upgrade card. When you are instructed to discard an Upgrade card, you may discard 1 ordnance token on that card instead .

so hmmm my thoughts is it is a go lol!

I think you are right too, but there will be a proverbial **** tonne of players that will argue against your logic, so if it's FAQ'd, we will know either way.

There is always one lol

The argument against goes like this:

Once per opportunity rule means you can only select each bomb once.

Extra munitions means you dont lose the bomb when you select it, but you cant deploy it a second time with the same map.

Yeah you won't get more bombs with the mapper and extra munitions. You only have 1 or 2 bomb cards that can be selected once each for any number of bomb cards. Extra munitions is a token that is a replacement for discarding.

We have a way in Aturi Cluster to destroy mines, should just transfer it over.

so would we be able to use the Scavenger Crane to replenish bombs.

I refuse to accept this. I get 4 mines. #AltFacts (or is it AltFAQs?). ;)
