After a one and a half years hiatus from the Forums, I have returned. Back then, I had every upgrade card and pilot memorize. I was preparing for my first two tournaments, and Imperial Veterans was on the horizon giving added strength to my favorite Imperial Star Fighter (the Tie Defender). That was before the dark times; before the rise of the JumpMasters, and the great FAQ nerf. Alas, I never made it to the tournaments, as life decided otherwise, so I never got to fly a Defender in its prime.

However, this year I will finally participate in my first tournament. I am headed to GenCon Flight 1. As such, I have started to play the game one or twice a week in preparation and have been considering a variety of Imperial lists. While constructing a list that did not have quite enough points to equip both ships with a Hull Upgrade, I was curious what others thought. Given the following two ships, to whom would you give Hull Upgrade?

Juke (2)
Comm Relay (3)

Colonel Vessery (35)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Tractor Beam (1) or Ion Cannon (3)
TIE/D (0)

Neither. Stealth Device on Omega Leader and/or Twin Ion Mk2 on Vessery.

Ion Cannon. More damage and if you Ionize something at the right range, then your ships can get behind it.

Omega Leader given those two. Stealth is also an excellent choice. Comes down to what you expect to face IMO. Do you expect big red dice throws coming then HU/SU, lots of smaller dice pools then SD.

Personally Tractor Beam dependent on what else you are running. Ion is also an excellent choice, so I think it really comes down to play-style.

I would forego stealth device in favor of expertise on Vessery, if you have access to it. It gives him double mods on both his shots and lets him save a focus for defense
