The Empire WILL strike back.

By DarthCognis, in X-Wing

Ladies and nobles of the Empire

I speak to you now in exile from the star destroyer "Contemptuous" broadcasting from the secret location of the imperial remnant fleet.

Do not listen to the LIES and PROPAGANDA of the SCUM and TERRORISTS who would have you believe that our empire lies defeated. In truth, the death of the Emperor has caused the empire greater pause than ever before, but our forces are REUNITING, and our fleet is building its strength.

It is now nearly every day now that reinforcements and stragglers are organised back into the command structure, and imperial patriots lie hidden deeply within every layer of "New Republican" society, including the hive of scum and villainy known as "FANTASY FLIGHT GAMES". The monster, known as BIGGS DARKLIGHTER, and his army of clones will soon see his end, and the dreaded JUMPMASTER 5000 will rue the day it every decided to mock imperial airspace by confronting our latest TIE Fighter designs.

Imperials are not ones for hope, or dreams of salvation like naive younglings, we make our own fate. With cunning and fury, the Imperial Remnant and its ally in the FIRST ORDER will use their most elite TIE designs to stem the tide against chaos until our next ULTIMATE WEAPON is unveiled from its secret development location.

Loyalists, fight with all your fury and hatred, know that soon it will be time to remind the rebels and pirates who we ARE, it is almost time to remind them the feeling of our jackboots against their throats.

The Tie Punisher is about to get a lot better. People should not dismiss it out of hand by saying "Tie Punishers are terrible". You might want to try flying them with all the various fixes. There are a lot of them. You can use either Bomblet Generator or Minefield Mapper to improve your Bomb slots. Unguided Rockets works for any Punisher, but Redline. Redline can use the Bomblet Generator every turn and actually use his Bomb slots. Advanced Sensors on Deathfire will let you Boost before using Bomblet Generator and then get a free Barrel Roll.

I totally agree. The named pilots and the new upgrades seem like they should kill enough f the enemies to make up there point cost in most scenarios now.

Besides how many overcosted ships see decent play because of upgrades or pilots?

- Advanced prototype

- Scum HWK

- Xwing

- T-70 Xwing

- probably some others that don't spring to mind right away....

The Punisher now has a niche and something only it can do for imperials that can't be done cheaper, it has an interesting and (seemingly) useful gimmicks and can fill a handful of pinnacle roles some that persist even after its defeat. I hope the Punishers start seeing legitimate play and I will definitely be trying some of these new effects.

Hell Yeah

The ultimate weapon is the loyal and skilled Imperial Pilot.

Eh....I'm trying I really am.

As the ships I got into the game to play become farther and farther from effective...

I just...

Sigh.

I need reeducation at the imperial thought control...er..happiness center.

I will report immediately

Unfortunately, skill is becoming less and less useful as every new ship has turrets and all the automatic damage from bombs. Its getting to be where if you are in range 1-2 and have 3-4 HP, you are automatically dead.

I find your lack of faith disturbing.

Of course the empire will strike back.

We will all just die of old age by the time it happens.

This stuff is still months away...then months after that a potential imperial assist may be announced...that will be months away from being teased then months away from release.

Making it a year at least...maybe closer to two years before it sees tables.

No wonder yoda is so **** old.

I'll be ready to play imperial again as long as I can find table space in the retirement home

The empire will get their ordnance and bomb fix to be equal to Rebels and Scum in just 18 months. Unfortunately, after Worlds in 12 months, when double jumps and scurrg bomb and torp the f*** out of everyone, FFG will nerf bombs and ordnance.

The savior will come (and it's not a TIE).

Cool Redline gets even more expensive now ... as if he isn't already the worst point pit. And unless there is a System Upgrade that generates a focus token, Tie Bombers are the choice for Unguided Rockets. Minefield Mapper is a neat gimmick for fun games. No fix for the Tie Punisher ... next!

Sure your right in most regards (forgot about the infinite bombs the Punisher can take) however I don't think anyone claiming that it's now better is expecting it to break the "Meta" and become its new dominant force.

there just saying that it will now be useable in a number of unique ways and that it means that this new play style introduced by this expansion isn't blocked out of the Imperial Arsenal.

Also from what lists I've seen the generic cutlass squadron pilots seem to be the primary choice for lists like these (or deathrain) and with LWF + Unguided they have a decent base stat line even if it is a little overpriced and they can choose between bomblet generator or actual bombs and Minefield mapping for there secondary options.

And you are right about one thing, they will make for some fun games ;)

If it helps, i took 2nd place at a local store champ using

X7 crackshot vess

X7 predator predator

Only 36 peeps though

Had *** loads of scum and at least 3 kanan biggs but, for whatever reason only one of them made top 4. That includes all but one fenn scouts, fenny terry and manny, fenn manny and assaj and a dengar tel

I knocked one kanan biggs out of the running with Bigg being the only survivor (dude wouldnt joust!), lost to fenn scouts, made the cut amd beat the same fenn scouts the very next round

Where Ties are the imperials hammer using broad strokes and blunt power to crush opponents, we had the Aces of yester-year to act as the empires scalpel, working expertly to precisely cut away at opposing fleets.

Now the galaxy has turned against us and we fall upon a new kind of vessel, the empires Cleaver, something tough and hard enough to survive open fire but also packing enough firepower to blow the empires enemies out of the water, we have some of the ingredients.

we need patience, we are the forces lurking behind the scenes biding our time until the opportunity arises and in this time we will teach our enemies what it truly means to feel fear. For the eternal empire.

here's the counter propaganda btw

point is, Backdraft is a goddamn carry

SFs really carry the flame hope for the Imperial faction. It's weird considering how unimpressed people were when they dropped. I know Lightweight Frame wasn't out yet, but I find it hard to argue that a sometime extra green die is the difference maker between "meh" and "premier asskicker in the Imperial fleet".

Yes, tell me about our lord and savior the Gunship!

Lightweight frame is such a great ability for a cheap cost. So many rebel and scum ships that could benefit from it And a few other imperial ships as well.+

I don't think it would be broken on too many ships, especially as many would prefer other mods instead.

Sounds like this is a great time to join us Rebel/Scum :P

Also not released at the time were Expertise, Pattern Analyser, Primed Thrusters and Targeting Synchroniser. These along with LWF added a whole lot of versatility to the SF, making it one of the most customisable small ships (outside of Miranda) in the game.

When it released the Tech Slot was pretty meh for it. Comm Relay it couldn't use, Weapons Guidance and Sensor Cluster both just a little bit average for their cost.

It probably did require people putting it on the board and seeing how it flew. Turns out it's really fun to fly.

Quickdraw also required a bit of figuring out - in the early days all people could see was the Rage/Baffle combo and that is a bit underwhelming (can be really good, but other builds have had more success). The move towards a more Dengar-like playstyle was very important for her.
