OK. I work at a government lab on a military base. For years I thought it would be cool to drive onto the base wearing a Jedi costume on Halloween, when I get stopped at the gate wave my hand (holding my badge) and say

"These aren't the droids you're looking for"

"You don't need to see my identification."

"I can go about my business"

"Move along"

Well I just ordered a screen accurate Obi-Wan kenobi costume,

and ive started growing a beard. Now I'm looking for coworkers who are willing to dress up as c3p0 and r2d2 and carpool with me on Halloween

My son is due to be born mid august and I'm going to get him an infant Yoda costume.

Well, it's going to depend on your guard at the time, but as long as you have your badge it'll be fine.

I agree with Ahrimon on this, having my own military experience on guard duty. Unless you know the guard on duty very well, and he/she has a good sense of humor, I'd be wary of trying it.

A stormtrooper costume while on duty would be against regulations, but there is an event in Albuquerque, the balloon fiesta, in particular the 501st legion and rebel legion come out for the darth vader and now yoda hot air balloons, that I could try this with. It happens in early October. In 2015 I got to use the line "aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper" the guy said "I am Luke Skywalker in disguise, don't tell anyone".

I work at an ammunition factory owned by the Army. Our "security" is provided by poorly-paid, ill-trained, trigger-happy subcontractors.

One of the fellows I work with is of Portuguese descent, which means he could pass for anything from Hispanic to Filipino to Arab to Persian. We joke, occasionally, that he should don a shemagh and a man-dress and begin zagareeting when he pulls up the gate. We all laugh, but we also all know he'd be shot and killed by one or more overzealous guards.
