Why would yo ueven want to drop all your bombs at Turn 0? I'm thinking it would be very useful to have bombs in reserve to threaten opponents with them in game.

This. I see minefield mapper as a way of setting up your first engagement. It's better to keep some back to block off escape routes I'd have theorised...

Because the only thing that dies faster than a glass cannon in arc is a Punisher with ordnance on board. I would lay out the mine field and threaten with missiles. In any event, more options are nice.

That then makes you ask, "How many bomb upgrade cards do I have equipped?"

Can I choose a number of bomb upgrades greater than I have equipped?

If I have 2 Cluster Mines equipped, with Extra Munitions, can I choose "4?" I would argue that the "any number" there has to be equal to or less than the number of bombs you have equipped. Then you can interrupt with EM to discard tokens instead of cards, but the window for choosing the number of bombs is already passed.

I also see the interaction as Picking a number of bombs up to the number of bomb upgrades you start with. This isn't all bad as it leaves you with a reserve after you've carefully placed your first course of bombs.

Too bad it doesn't really work well with the boom-bombs although I guess the could be used to slow an initial approach.

Thats no fix. How can a unique card fix a ship anyways?

This, this level of strategy is awesome and I enjoy the idea of using points just for a deterrent. You have to play it smart and use Minefield mapping to pick your engagements as to still come out on top despite the points disadvantage you'll be at once combat begins (assuming they took no bombs for the same reason) maybe it's better to use it to seperate the enemy fleet so that your full force can confront a fraction of there's while the rest f their fleet has to race around the engagement area. Quite a few possibilities...

This is pretty questionable logic. Wouldnt you want a unique title for all those ships we see people complains about? Not every ships is designed to be swarmed.

The way I see it Punishers aren't meant fielded in that way with a mini swarm, they're few and far between in the imperial military and are used sparsely for strategic operations. And You can run three Cutlass Punishers with Minefield mapping and ignore the bomblet generator (or have one with it) and LWF + Unguided rockets if you really do want to try a mini swarm.

And you know exactly that the Tie Punisher wan't meant to field more the one? Forget about that Minefield Mapping ... it could be painful in EPIC games, but we will never see them in tournament play.

Again, this is no fix for the Tie Punisher. Its just a few gimmicks that might help to see the Punisher in casual fun games.

It's definitely a couple of cards on the way towards fixing the Punisher; debating that is silly. Whether it's enough or not remains to be seen; debating that without testing is premature.

Personally, I'm looking forward to fielding the Punisher again.

Those cards you speak of are even better with ships of other factions. You might now be happy, I'm still waiting for a decent fix. Debating it isn't silly since this is why forums are there. If you insist that debating is silly I need to report you, since your intention would then be to insult forum users who with to debate.

Deathrain with the Bomblets + Unguided Rockets + LW-Frame might be fun ... I agree its not a fix like we have seen them a couple of times now.

Its more a fixlet.

It's great that you can edit post titles now.
