Reprints of older sets

By Starfish1, in X-Wing

I don't know if this is a stupid question or if it makes any sense, but I haven't bought anything for a couple of years (been out of the game).

I can see that the paint jobs are much better on the newer ships, so I'm wondering if reprints of the older sets like the Core Set 1, X wing, Y Wing and TIE have a noticeable improvement on the quality of finish compared to how they were a couple of years ago?

Not really "better," imo, just different, just like each reprint of a ship. I've noticed that the same ships from different print runs are normally different shades.

Exactly. I'm starting to see tie phantoms shift from royal navy blue to TIE bomber vets grey.

Thanks for the replies.

I was wondering if it's worth replacing any of my older ships. Sounds like it's not.

If they change the shade over time I guess that must get annoying if you're slowly building up a fleet of one particular ship.

Thanks again.

Oh believe me, X-wings and Y-wings I've got from the fist waves were friggin' ATROCIOUS!

Maybe it's just my luck, but I've found the newer prints to be noticeably better. Thinner paint (details not lost), better washes, less misaligned guns/wings.
