As an empire player, I'm beginning to feel irritated. Shouldn't we get cool bombers, too? Maybe in the form of an upgraded iconic ship... say... the bomber? Oh. I forgot. That one's a shuttle now.

Now that's an interesting question. It says "discard a bomb upgrade card," so we know Extra Munitions will let you discard a Munitions token instead. But would you be able to discard a bomb card twice? I doubt it, due to the 'once per opportunity' rule. I think TIE punishers would be able to deploy two at the most.

And wow, this thing is nuts. I wasn't expecting an article to drop before next week. Both versions of Nym are pretty solid for the points, and the dial is about on par with the TIE Bomber's while adding a turret.
The Rebel version should be particularly scary, as you can run a PS10 Nym with a Bomblet Generator and Genius in the Havok, while Miranda zips around with Sabine crew.

There are cycles and things balance themselves. Soontir and palp stole the show for a long time and whisper made many people quit.

Your TIE Punisher is the only ship which can run both Unguided Rockets and Bomblet Generator for Maximum unlimited ordnance. Also I think multiple copies of Minefield Mapper - but don't quote me on that.

Something else to think about there are not many PS 9 ships, this wave did not add to that fact. So many after this wave hits and anyone jumps hard on it being out maybe our heroes Vader and QuickDraw are going to be amazing. going first can still be a power tool that the other lists don't have.

I had the same thought, except double cluster mines and blocking off your opponent instead of yourself. Also, if you're self-bumping unguided rockets doesn't do you any good since you won't have focus
As fun as Genius is, I also have to wonder if R4-B11 may finally have a home on an FCS Havoc. It's the first ship with a System and Salvaged Astromech slot, and will be able to benefit from Rebel wingmen.

Depends on the list. Scum nym with bomblet generator loves genius to have to places to drop it since he's immune to the explosion.

Bomblet Generator - When you reveal your maneuver , you may drop one bomblet token...
Genius - If you are equipped with a bomb that can be dropped before you reveal your maneuver ...
Does this cancel the ability to use this together?

Proton, Seismic, Ion, and Thermals all have the same "When you reveal" language. So, if you're right, "Genius" technically wouldn't work with ANY bombs. Therefore, I would just chalk this up to inconsitent wording and allow the combo to work as expected.

Genius is Errata'd to solve this. All the dial bombs have the same wording:
This card should read:
“If you are equipped with a bomb that can be dropped
when you reveal your maneuver, you may drop the bomb
after you execute your maneuver instead.”

Scum and Rebel lists will love this expansion, I think it will truly end a few of ships ability to be tier 1 anymore. Certainly a hard direction towards heavy dropped ordinance; Sabine is drooling; would love to know what the meta was when the FFG guys derived this ship......wow! ?
