What are the best tactics against Lowhhrick + Biggs + Kanan?

By Wazat, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So what's the best way to handle a fleet like this, assuming you didn't build your fleet specifically to dismantle it? I doubt this will be the new meta, but it could be annoying, and may be worth imagining ways to counter effectively, especially if MOV is on the line.

Lowhhrick with Selflessness

Biggs with R4-D6 and IA

Kanan Jarrus with Recon Specialist + FCS + Autoblaster Turret + "Chopper"

I figure bump if you have a low enough pilot skill, so you can deny Lowhhrick or Kanan their important action and hopefully split up the formation. Or use lock-munitions like Proton Torpedo or Homing Missile to ignore Biggs' ability and target the help... again, if you have those in your fleet. Or just pour maximum firepower on Biggs and try to overwhelm the 3 damage the team will shed from him per round (on top of the one-time uses of Selflessness and possibly R4-D6). Or see what you can do to force them to spread out, e.g. herding them toward an asteroid or your own ships and forcing their formation to lose cohesion.

I kinda want to fly this fleet... it's the first thing that came to mind when I saw Lowhhrick's ability. But it might not be fun for either player... turtling is often... unwholesome. Though it is made up of high-firepower ships, so it's not a toothless will-grinder. I'm also expecting I'll see it fielded against me once or twice at least, so I'm trying to imagine how good or bad it'll be, and how to dismantle it.

Thoughts?

(edit: maybe Synced Turret + Ruthlessness, to bypass Biggs then deliver unavoidable damage to him; but you'd have to have other reasons to field that, since building a fleet to counter this one isn't a wise strategy. Maybe field a couple of TLTs and TIE/Ds to odds-fight Biggs' defenses and exhaust their tokens. Or come at the fleet at range 3 so only one ship is in range of your shots, so you can pick a target and damage it heavily without Biggs' protection; though they're both very durable ships.)

Get something behind it.

The Auzituck can't turn around, Kanan won't be shooting backwards except at range 1. If Biggs is already stressed from using his astro, then he won't be turning around either.

Good idea. I figured the fleet would struggle with jousting, and Chopper only helps partially. Kanan will still get his action if he can afford the damage, but Lowhhrick will have to fumble with a two-round turnaround, and will probably lose Bigg's bubble in the process. That would be the opportunity to roast him... and that's just one joust. TIE Defenders might have a grand time picking this fleet apart.

This is the only known way so far.71120_Star_Trek_Attack_Wing_01.jpg

It would be a terrible mistake to ignore biggs and try to take out the support in this case.

This is an example of a list that gives up too much offense in order to keep its turtling capacity. Since Biggs has just as much firepower as any other ship in the list, there is no reason not to take him out first since he is still technically the squishiest.

That Kanan build is very easy to counter play, especially for arc-dodgers. I don't see this list as being a problem or a meta-changer in any way. In fact, it will probably be more annoying to beat for other rebel jousting lists than anything else.
