I'm just so glad that the Khiraxz (S&V X-Wing knockoff) got a legitimate fix before the eponyomous X-Wing did. 'Cuz, ya know, f--- everyone that's not Scum...
Like, why couldn't this card have been Khiraxz
or
X-Wing only? They're practically the same dang ship.
Should Royal Guard Pilot be errata to include 3 modifications?
14 hours ago, StevenO said:NO.
Might as well change Autothrusters to say "you may equip an additional modification" as it already is an auto-include. Maybe your +1 Hull, Shield, and Agility wouldn't be "meta breaking" at 10 points but how about Autothrusters, Ion Engines (a couple more greens to help dump that Stress, and your Targeting Computer or Experimental Interface to power an Action EPT instead of having PtL in that slot.
Your Kihraxz may now get to take 3 modifications (and the price reduction is a bigger deal) but when you consider the Interceptor already has Vectored Thruster and Engine Upgrades as "standard equipment" there aren't so many options to start with.
The best Argument against it. Since the TIE Interceptor essentially has both VT and EU in the action bar, the Kihrax is already missing 2 of the 3 modifications. However for a while that boost action was merely a 4 point discount since any ship could equip EU. It took autothrusters to make the boost action worth something. Same now could be said about Barrelroll now, however not every ship can take vectored thrusters.

Okay, I can see that. Might help out Fel's Wrath and Lt Lorrir. The only thing is how to add it in? The restriction and the benefit takes up plenty of room. I don't want to see Soontir with 2 EPTs though, so I would limit it to if you do not have an EPT slot. As for the -1 point yeah that is a fix but I wouldn't add in with the EPT slot. One or the other would be good but not both, since FFG hasn't made a precedent of pen & ink changing the point values printed on the card we can push aside the latter part of the suggestion.

We've got new releases that are copying existing abilities already.

Well due to accretion and the inevitable power creep. The copied abilities have been given steroids. Case and point, the two G4H title compared to RGP and x7 titles.

3 modifications makes sense on a Scum ship because of how customizable they are and how likely Scum are to add a bunch of different crap to their ships.
Royal Guard TIEs weren't extra customizable, they were upgraded in very specific ways over standard Interceptors. They had hyperdrives and shields installed, as well as extra wing flaps that increased their speed and maneuverability.A real Royal Guard title should give the ship +1 shield and do something that relates to maneuvering.
Give soontir a shield plus green 3s and I think he might be back.
Come on, why not? 11 Greens, that's how TIE Interceptors should roll ;-)

Actually the should have S-loops, but then again if TIE Interceptors have S-loops you have to give them to A-wings too. Okay how about giving them the falcon title ability? Or find a way to make their 3 Hard turn into a T-roll.
Edited by Marinealverinb4 FO version of interceptors adds sloops.

Poor Soontir Fel. Only dominated the competitive scene for 8 waves.
"What?! This one ship should be cream of the crop every single wave ! If it's not, it's time to whine until it comes back!"
Good riddance Soontir Fel, I hope you burn in hell.
Interceptor/fo: title. Interceptor only, 1 point. After performing a (speed 3) turn maneuver, you may rotate your ship 90 degrees. You may equip a 2nd title card.

You'd better be picking up a Stress token for that! It's clearly better than the Royal Guard title as you're giving the ship a VERY powerful function in place of what would be a second modification even if you didn't have that last line. If there were a modification that allowed you to "rotate your ship 90 degrees after performing a speed 3 turn" for only a single point you'd already have your second modification to go with AT and that could even be with it giving you a Stress token.
Consider: Make a speed 3 turn and now you've "moved over" but could be facing the same direction you were going, the opposite direction you were going, or perpendicular to direction you were going with the forward and back also giving you a little wiggle room besides.

You are confusing the only viable Ace for one faction - with dominating.
Also, he didn't win any worlds now did he?
Now, if any pilot dominated Wave 1-7, it was (fat) Han.

No, I'm not confusing anything at all.
Soontir Fel was a very very competitive ship for 8 waves. That is a fact. No other pilot or ship in the game has enjoyed a run anywhere close to that.
Winning worlds is a terrible argument for whether something is good or not. Always has been, always will be. Do you apply the same argument when someone complains about Miranda and Sabine? Not an issue, hasn't won worlds.
Fat Han was big after C-3PO came out and disappeared when TLTs came out (people do seem weirdly eager to go back to that though). He had about half the competitive lifespan of Fel.

Biggs isn't mad that you forgot him, he's just disappointed.
The reason the kfighter title allows 3 mods is because it has almost NOTHING stock to its bar.
Interceptors have Boost, Broll, Focus, Evade by nature. Kfighter has Focus/TLock.
Interceptor basically needs Autothrustors to survive at all, so the title lets them still take another mod of choice.
Kfighters NEED VTs to be able to move and they dont absolutely need it but they could really, really use a boost too. I'd be surprised to see any triple mod Kfighter list w/o 2 action gaining mods

Is complaining about Biggs mandatory now?

No, just that if you're going to claim that a pilot has had unprecedented value by being competitively viable for 8 waves, you're forgetting that there actually is a precedent.

I'm a die-hard competitive Imperial player... and I completely agree... this would have made so much sense for X-Wing, B-Wing, Tie Interceptors, Tie Fighters, A-Wings...
but I'm heartened that if beloved scum got this (and truthfully a new Starviper title would be okay for interceptors too), maybe some lesser form of this in the works for other Endor and earlier small ships.
For another interceptor title, how about if they are attacked and not hit, they may perform a free boost or barrel role action. That would help the lower PS pilots and non-PTL pilots because they most likely won't be stressed. If an enemy you normally wouldn't be able to shoot misses, you can reposition to shoot and/or get a range one shot
3 hours ago, Sparklelord said:Biggs isn't mad that you forgot him, he's just disappointed.
You see that's the thing about Biggs. He may have always been around to help the team but he has never been the STAR of the team. Biggs isn't there to WIN the game unlike Fel was doing during his long run but rather Biggs has always been around letting other team mates try to win the games. Biggs may be a good defender but who really ever remembers the guy who plays good defense when it is the guy that does all of the scoring that gets all of the glory?
+1 shield.
Why stop at 3?
...still wouldn't make interceptors relevant again with all the bombs heading this way. Interceptors need action economy and price reduction to get over the hump.
I would honestly be happy if RGT got erratad to just include +1 shield. Interceptors are just way too fragile in the turret and bomb meta.

Well but that's the thing, too, is the attacker du jour comes and goes, but Biggs is always there to enable.
Like the seasoned veteran who you can rely on to be the team's foundation, he plays a bigger role in the locker room than on the field.

Okay, fair enough. Biggs has always been competitively viable. He's also gone through cycles of prominence and disappearance. Fat Han had no use for him, for instance.
It wasn't until secondary weapons such as TLTs and U-boats became mainstream that he became resurgent.

Or try alternate Soontir builds for the current meta...
Soontir + Expert Handling + Experimental interface + Autothrusters. Cut those incoming target locks, be the beast.
Soontir + Rage (combine EI, AT, TIE MKII or shield as you like) - this requires an inspiring recruit or 2, and the upsilon can use coordinate, or you can go the EI route... 3/4 focus tokens, attack rerolls , and repeat on multiple turns, and add a boost / roll?

Pretty sure Integrated Astromech came out before the Vaksai title did.
