5 activation artillery (ISD2+VSD2)

Remember seeing a post about pairing an ISD and VSD, so I did a little tweaking based on my dual ISD1 list. Instead of the two minimal ISD1s, I have a decently loaded ISD2 and VSD2. Wanted to get a little feedback on it. Still has the same, albeit minor, flaw the other has which is having only six deployments, but the upside of being able to bring its full battery armament to bear at longer range than the paired ISD1s. It's got a bit more maneuverability, using Jerjerrod instead of Motti, but offsets the hull gains by using RBDs on the two big hitters and utilizing the comms net gozanti to fling engineering tokens to regenerate shields lost to using Jerry's ability. The objectives selected are there to offset the deployment disadvantage as well,, especially with Solar Corona ( the least damning of them I believe). @PT106 or any other star destroyer wizard, you're invited to give me your criticisms.

aside from that, that VSD may turn faster with Jerry, but it's still only speed two. Still, this needs testing. That's a lot of punch.

I wonder if the price of VSD2 worth it. What if you drop both ISD and VSD to 1 and squeeze another combat ship?

Op, Ion cannon is fine, but why not hyperspace assault. Bringing the victory to threaten 2-3 ships is very powerful

If I'm going to Hyperspace Assault a VSD, it'd be a VSD1 with ordnance and XI7s. The likelihood of an opponent choosing is low, more so with a heavyweight I can drop in at optimal range, and plaguing rear arcs.

I've tried the Arquitens numerous times and found it to be iffy at best, but that be me flying it wrong with my aggressive nature. If anything, I'd probably invest in Demolisher and spend the remaining balance on upgrading the VSD.

A rear guard action doesn't necessarily need to be fast. Just has to have sufficient firepower to dissuade the opposing force from trying it. As for placing the commander on a flotilla, at least I don't hide mine in a corner!

Well.. this is a different kind of Arquttens. Very slippery speed 4 lifeboat with enough guns to show. And it is slightly cheap than Demolisher (85 pts).

The problem, PT106, is that Destraa can't help running his ships right into everything enemy. Don't work very well with Kittens.

This is the God-honest truth. As a former armor crewman, I strategize and employ a lot of tactics I learned as a member of the armor community, and it tends to show.

Remind me to loan you a book I have here, or two.

I have found some happy success with VSD 1s with Vet Gunners and DTT. Your range suffers a little over VSD2 but it's a pretty consistent 3+ damage at red range. Enough to get Flechettes for the raider and comms net on the naked Goz.

Except it was never a lifeboat to begin with. All my ships close with the enemy, flotilla or not!

Because then it isn't the artillery theme, just more tankiness?

Personally, I believe the ISD 2 is always worth the price, but that is because I like using my brace tokens at least once per turn. I _could_ always use Tua to get that ECM, but I also like using Damage Control Officer to prevent those stupid APT crits (or NYM, or NK-7's) and make my contain useful early on.
