Shoot me, because I'm an idiot.

By KCDodger, in X-Wing

Okay. So I just realized a thing in another post. Some of you know I hate the wookiee gunship.

Well. In that post I realized just how friggin fantastic the ship is for kids. No seriously, can you actually think of a better ship for kids to learn how to play X-Wing, I mean, holy crap. 180 arc, solid health and dial, it's a really, really solid multi-role vessel (and believe me, I know my boot is lodged firmly in my mouth here, guys.)

I still don't like it. I still think an LAAT/i would have been a better pick (which we have seen working just fine in space on occasion, for real guys.) but honestly, the Wookiee Gunship is actually a really, really kid-friendly starter ship that doesn't look like it's gonna punish you for using it at all really, has a solid cost (oh poor X-Wing.) and it just isn't going to get one-shotted by anything you're throwing at your kid (There is seriously just no way unless you're trying to stomp the kid's guts out.)

So... I will admit defeat on this. It's good to have a genuine trainer ship. It's good to have a ship that's easy to use and get results out of, even though that should be the X-Wing.

Solid perspective. Star Wars is not just the originals anymore but it is for everyone of all ages.

At least its not a Gungan ship

I mean, the gungans don't even have any ships last I checked. But I believe Star Wars is for everybody of all ages.

My first memories, or very close to first, are watching Star Wars on VHS.

I think X-wings or T-70 X-wings are kid friendly enough. Quite frankly any ship can get shot down in a single turn so I don't expect anything from this Aztuk Gunship. Actually I don't even think it will be any good or kid friendly. Honestly the only thing from that expansion pack I am excited for is Wookie Commandos, but that is not for standard play, they have already been obsoleted by Expertise. But for the CR-90, What a Wookie!

The Wookiee gunship doesn't excite me, but I think there's hidden potential here. Sure, it will buff Biggs, and Biggs is gonna Biggs. At least now you don't have to be tied to him alone if you want to fly with another bodyguard/support ship.

With regard to being a good starter ship, I guess I can see that; it's basically half a Falcon: 1/2 PWT (180 degree arc), lots of health, 2 crew and so on. It's not "sexy" but it should be pretty solid.

The ship I'm hoping will be the star of wave 11 is the Scurrg. That's the one I want them to reveal!

I think it'll be a solid ship, it seems like its going to fit a similar role to the one that the arc170 plays in my list, or the role that the U-Wing was supposed to try and fill

Not sure if the Wookie ship is so friendly handle. The Arc is way better for that role

Certainly beats TLT Y-Wings in the what you learn about the game department.

I think I would put the Vectored thrusters on the gunship. The combo of barrel roll and 180 arc makes the gunship harder to pin down.

If Biggs is standing next to you then your good.

You think this thing has the jump master beat for ease of use mixed with durability? I'm not really seeing that one. Just like back in the day daddy would put together a fat han for sonny. I saw several 7 year olds rocking that build before it got obsoleted. The only advantage this ship has is, oh look daddy a rebels ship and I get to be wookiees, roar!

This is the most underhanded compliment a Wookiee ship has ever received.

I think its going to be a good solid ship, I'm sure some folks will complain about it (hey what's new right??? :) ) I am looking forward to getting one for myself and see how it plays. :)

Give the PS5 Wookie ship PTL, Jan Ors, and Jyn Erso.... Take Reinforce and Jyn actions each turn Biggs is in trouble and feed Biggs ample focus and evade tokens due to the 180 arc, plus spend your reinforce token for the extra Biggs evade result. Good luck ever killing Biggs.

Yeah I think there should have been a better ship than this, but I am still happy with anything rebel wie get :D

And you are right... it's probably a good ship for kiddies as well.

Kids can pick up the game pretty easily. It's actually not that hard of a game compared to some others like Rebellion or Axis and Allies. What keeps kids entertained is ships and characters they like, and I do think that kids really like Wookiees! I was still a teenager (so, technically a kid?) when I started this account, and my avatar proves that Wookiees were my favorite as a kid!

Free with every Wookiee Gunship

Yes, you are thinking it is great for kids, but really, we all know it will be something like this.

Yes, without a doubt.

Not only is it distinctly Rebel (kids like the rebellion, they're the heroes, these kids don't have TIE Fighter to love the Empire with), but it's simple and less prone to hit obstacles, which your child you're teaching absolutely should learn about. My folks always insist on no asteroids when playing and it infuriates me.

Hey it's genuine.

Exactly! They're a crowd favorite. Was never too sure why everybody loved Chewie and R2, since I was fixated on Han and Wedge and stuff. But to each their own.

Not me, when I was a kid I always preferred the bad guys. Skeletor and later The Horde instead of He-man, Cobra over GI Joe, Decepticons over Autobots. When Star Wars Galaxies hit in my young 20's it wasn't even a question to go Empire, WOW it was Horde from go Alliance was dopey. Not every kid wants to be the good guys, I found them sappy. ?

SOLID typo on my part. lol

It's also without easy-to-break parts (I would never let my small kids to handle the X-Wings, for instance), and looks like an actual children's toy.

It only needed a turret.

It is sturdy in the game and comical in appearance; I agree. Plus, it's lack of Star Wars-y-ness doesn't matter for kids.

I guess it'll sell a bit...?

The Wookie Gunship will be the best Expansion epic has had in a while. Breach Specialist, Wookie Commandos. I might throw in Cad Bane but I on;t know what it will do an that is a different expansion in the same wave.

Disagree.

They should have stopped making people after 1990.
