Last sunday I was TO for a local Store Championship. Today I got sent this picture from one of the participants. Turns out some of the range rules in the kit have the stripes printed somewhat out of proportion. The total length is the same, but it seems the range ruler has moved when they printed the stripes.
Lets hope it's not another cluster mine fiasco!
Actually, a lot of the blue 2016 rulers were off.
May want to compare to a regular cardboard one.

You can see the small letters underneath the FFG logo have "fallen off" the range ruler. The whole template must have shifted during print. That 2016 one is correct
FFG shipping junk without proper quality assurance for tournament prizes? what a surprise.
As was said before, the quality of X-wing tournament rewards has been gradually decreasing over the past year.
(specifically: wrong shape (!) promo cluster mines, promo card images shifted by up to several mm, rey promo done in 10 minutes by applying a filter, promo conner nets bleeding paint over the edges etc.)
You know, the thing that bugs me the most is the fact that other ( significantly less popular) FFG games still get solid rewards with custom art and noticeably high quality. To the best of my knowledge, it's only X-wing that's being neglected.

It's because X-Wing is at it's high point in popularity, where as, games such as Destiny is still growing so more of their budget is dedicated to prize support in hopes of growing the game.
So. They are legal FFG products. If I'm using tactician, gonna use the orange one. He he.

This one isn't that bad if the owner has separate r1 and r1-2 rulers, but it's really uncool when your reward for doing well is low quality.

Im guessing the 2016 could be off, Ive never checked it. My 2017 one matched my 2014 one, and my 2014 one Ive compared to the cardboard before.
Some of the cardboard ones are even off. Best and most precise one's are Team Covenant that use multiple versions of FFG's to find what the size is suppose to be.
Glad I have official FFG range 1 and 2 rulers now.
I use my SOS r1 and r1-2 exclusively to check ranges, my longer one is only used to check if something is within r3, but this is good to know.
At least the ruler is straight. You could use it for example to draw a blue line onto something that needs one.
BTW anyone noticed that the
Auzituck preview had the wrong reinforce tokens in the big "all stuff from the expansion" shot?
