In light of the prevalence of Jabba the Hutt (and his Nefarious Gains), I decided over the weekend that I wanted to create a list that runs a small number of high-power figures. Unfortunately, my quest to build a reasonably competitive list with minimal figures brought me right back to a Hunter list.
The list as it currently sits includes:
- IG-88, Assassin Droid with Focused on the Kill -- He is a mobile, flexible hard-hitting attacker, offering strong long-range attacks until it becomes comfortable to move in and start shooting with red dice. Additionally, Focused on the Kill means he isn't dependent on support figures for focus and frees Jabba up to focus Bossk, Onar, and Shyla.
- Bossk, Born Hunter -- Bossk makes the list almost purely for his single-target damage. He has the potential to one-shot medium-cost figures, even without command cards or focus, and he takes big chunks out of higher-cost figures. Indiscriminate Fire gives an opportunity for some nice AOE, as well.
- Shyla Varad -- Shyla is probably the figure in the list with the least weakness. Good toughness, good damage, strong surge abilities, and the ability to set up the rest of the team with Mandalorian Whip.
- Jabba the Hutt, Vile Gangster -- In a list with nobody to camp terminals, Jabba's card draw is critical, and a single focus per round is probably enough for this list. Where he really shines, though, is when he can give anyone else in the list an extra attack with Order Hit.
- Onar Koma -- Onar is just a really good 6-point figure: damage, repositioning, etc.
This list probably isn't competitive at an elite level, but I think it is playable. I'm certain it will require very careful play to avoid losing someone too early, because it needs to close the activation gap early, pick off enemies. I haven't played it yet, but Masterchiefspiff tried it out. He favors cutting Bossk for something like a group of elite Weequays and Black Market, he told me afterward. I would probably favor Vinto, a regular Jawa, and Black Market if I was worried about card draw, but the point stands.
