You gotta know when to roll reds....know when to focus...
Every gamer knows
That the secret to survivin'
Is knowin' what to block with
And knowin' when focus.
'Cause every round is a winner
And every round is a loser
And the best that you can hope for is for those Green die to work.

As a B-wing player, yes, i always do. Because i never seem to grab enough out of the pile.
There'll be time enough for countin, when the damage dealin's done.
I love you guys.

Seriously... The only time you should fight is when there's a reason to do so. There is nothing against the 'spirit of the game' if you fly off to regen or gain an advantage, even if you're just trying to run out the clock that's fine. Because if there's still an hour left you won't do it in most cases, and the Dev's themselves have said there's nothing wrong with it.
It is very foolish to play to the other guys strengths and attacking when you don't have the advantage in doing exactly that.
I think its perfectly acceptable to pack it in and run. Its on the other player to pin you in the corner of the board and blast you to submission.
I used to fly loaded Vader, loaded soontir and a sigma Squadron with Mara jade and stygium PA.
Fantastic list, super squishy but hits like a truck when flown properly.
Anywho, at a tournament I lost 2 games I could have won by running away. But I also won two games I could have won by running away, by turning back into the fray and mopping up. The satisfaction of throwing caution to the wind with your glass cannons and hunting down the remnants of your opponents list is just too tempting. I'll do it every time ?

There'll be time enough for countin', when you've finished shootin' Scum.
So do you think 120 should be the new limit?

What does the DEV's say about taking a joke to seriously ;)?
Discretion is the better part of valour. So yeah, but be careful about your retreats as well, the board is just 3 feet long, nowhere to hide either.
This is a problem I struggle with too.
Last regionals, I was 4 - 1 going into the last round. I played a tough match, it came down to my Old Teroch and Fenn Rau vs Assajj and Fenn Rau. Ventress was below half, so I had the points advantage, but for some reason (fatigue, maybe), I had it in my head that I had to kill something to win. I boosted with Teroch, and had to do the same with Fenn. His Fenn wound up with a range two shot on Old Teroch, and I had no focus. OT goes boom, I didn't kill Ventress, and my opponent won the game and made top 8. Minutes later, after the stress of the game, I realized that if I'd just peeled off with OT instead of going in, I would have won. Or even if I'd focused, it might have made the difference.
I'm always trying to keep a closer eye on my MoV now.

I get it's a joke, but a lot of people seem to actually feel that way. Most often they feel that way when they're behind and need someone to walk into their guns so they can get ahead in points.

This is actually a good reason to run a bit if you're getting tight on time. If you have the point advantage you don't have to do anything to win. This means you have plenty of time to fly around and set up to punish your opponent who will have to attempt to score points before time is up. As time grows thin they'll be more and more likely to make a sloppy or desperate attack and you can rout them thoroughly as they deserve.

Like Boxing; you can, and often, win boxing matches by scoring points and having the most points at the end of the match. Sometimes its a knockout, but often points, just like X-Wing. If someone were to score two or three punches in the first round and then just start running around the ring to prevent his opponent from getting any points, the referee would put a stop to that very quickly. X-Wing is a battle as well, and players should be expected to fight with some wiggle room for strategic withdrawls.
He's playing a dangerous game if he tries to kill one thing and run away; his MOV will be poor so he's at the mercy of one failure and he misses out on whatever his aim was (probably making cut).
Until the rules change, it's a valid gameplay tactic IMO.
I think it's valid.perhaps annoying but valid.
It just never occurs to me to do it when it matters.
