Alt Art and Promo cards (Your wisdom is required)

By Kieffer, in Star Wars: Armada

Hello everyone,

Faced by the large numbers of Alt Art and Promo cards for Star Wars Armada, i'm looking for help to avoid missing some.

I have written a Google Drive doc to gather available informations.

As i'm a card collector i'm trying to have informations about every released promo card for the game.

Here is a screen capture :

Would you be kind enough to look at this and provide me with your knowledge on this matter ?

I'm looking for cards i missed or for errors in my list, by example a wrong name of realease event or a wrong date.

Thank you for your help, really appreciated.

Regards.

Nicolas

Q2 2017 - Rapid Reload and A-Wing

Q3 2017 isn't known/announced yet.

The North American Championships (GenCon) 2016 also had Reprises of the Victory-II Alt Art, this time, in Hard-Plastic (Credit Card) Material, rather than Cardboard. An Alt-Art VSD-1, as well as Full-Arts of Darth Vader and Luke (thanks Shmitty)

The North American Championship (GenCon) 2017 will also feature the Alt-Art of Terrinald Screed.

US Nationals 2017 feature Major Rhymer.

GenCon 2016 was actually a VSD I, Vader, and an alt art Luke

Screed is the commander I use by far and away the most, and I'd honest to goodness fly to Gencon to get a copy if it wasn't for the fact that flights would set me back about €1000. I have a sad.

You just missed him at the Euro Championships, too :(

Despite being in Ireland, that actually would have cost me about as much to get to, thanks to my work screwing up my dates and letting me know only the week before that I was off that weekend. Last minute flights and hotels were going to run me in excess of €700. I didn't even know he was available there. I have an even bigger sad.

Also don't foget the CC kit cards. Saber Squad, Cienna Ray, Ten Numb, and Dagger Squadron... also the Fighter Ambush objective card

Shame they only put out the rebel variant of the Fighter Ambush card.....

There should have been an Imperial Card too.

But what do I know, we never got the Kit Delivered here at the Sentry Box in Canada....

... and we may never get it delivered, with the Changeover of Distributors.

We had like 3 kits. All Rebel.

We never got that kit either. In fact, this is the first I heard of it. The joys of having no supporting stores in the country...

The Screed thing honestly makes me sad though. I have a feeling I'll end up scouring ebay for months and shelling out way too much for it.

Our kit arrived... May?

Our store never saw the CC cards and is still waiting on The alt art Awing kits. We aren't thrilled

Well you can have my Screed for €500.... ?

Thank you again for your input.;)

I updated the original post.

Thanks for creating the OP, Kieffer. It's nice to see a list of what all is out there. I recently started playing Armada and quickly began tracking down promos. I was the under the belief that I had acquired at least one of everything, barring the GR-75 (which I'll be winning at a Store Championship this weekend) and all of the admirals (which I decided not to go for, due to the high cost of some. I have been offered a few for relatively low prices while buying other items/cards from people but I figure if I take someone up on a deal and get one, then I'll feel compelled to get them all).

Turns out I'm missing the following:

-Victory-I plastic. I've seen this a few times on a major auction site but somehow always confused it with the Victory-II and assumed they had only released a plastic version of the Victory II, like when they been giving away a cardstock and plastic version of an alt-art card in X-Wing recently. I didn't realize that the Vic II promo came out so early and the plastic was a Victory-I. So that's a bummer.

-Extended art Luke. I've never seen one of these in my hunt to get promos. It looks like one sold online shortly before I started acquiring them at the beginning of May. It went for a low price too but judging how infrequent they must pop up, I have to assume that was a fluke and they are rare enough that they go for more.

-CR-90 regional promo. Like Luke, I didn't know this existed. 2017 Regionals were just a few months back, weren't they? I would think I would have seen one by now, but I had to google to find a picture; I couldn't even track down the Regionals prize page here on the FFG site when I tried to look.

So those three are a real bummer. And then the soon-to-be reversable Flotilla card as well, which I don't imagine I'll get my hands on. And here I thought the Boba Fett extended art which I got recently was the last thing I needed. I'm glad to see that there isn't a Gladiator-I promo that I missed and didn't know about, but then again, I'm also kind of sad there is no Gladiator-I promo. My Demo needs a cool-looking promo card. Which makes me wonder: why aren't custom alt-art cards a bigger thing in Armada, like they are in X-Wing? I don't see any on any of the FB groups I belong to or while scouring the web for more Armada conversation. That is a bit off-topic and may be for another thread though.

And and I will add, since I know it irks some people, that I don't try to pass off any promos I own as ones I won (except with actual X-Wing promos that I did win) and if someone makes a comment on a promo item I may have, I'll usually say something like "Yeah, I picked one of those up a while ago from *wherever*" or something along those lines. I have them because A) I'm a bit of a completionist, and B) The horizontal ship promos are superior to the vertical cards IMO because I can place my command and speed dials in the middle of the card and not cover up any pertinent information (I find with vertical cards that I am constantly looking to see part of the speed chart or command values or armament but my dials are covering something up). I'm not out there trying to act like "Oh yeah, I've got this Worlds card. Because I was there and won it!"

It seems that these two are given out on big events on the team tournament by ffg.

They were given out as well in 2016 on worlds. First win the team got the Luke, second win the team got the VSD (means both if you won both games).

Same promos were again the EC 2017. But i was told that player got the Luke if they had one win at the end and got the VSD if they got two wins in the end (means only one of the two promo cards). Not sure if this is true, because i did not play it.

Not sure if they were on the pricewall on worlds 2017.

US Nationals include both the Rhymer and a double sided plastic version of the GR75 Combat and Gozant Assault I believe.

Luke was on the prizewall at worlds 2017, but the plastic vsd was not.
