Huh, no release date on the end. :*(

'The auto-generated subtitles decided that instead of "peerless generals", it's "peerless genitals".

So, that's...something.

Considering the size of the Lion army, that's may not be that far off the mark.

I don't know, think about how big the crab clan would be if it wasn't constantly repelling waves of shadow lands monsters.

True this.

Of course, the Crab obviously have more fun 'refilling the ranks' than Lions do.

Are the aliens from Arrival trying to communicate something to us?

Lokugan....

Not as good as the Crane one, and as a honorable vassal of the Lion, I am outraged!

But seriously, this one seemed more like a quick 'Oh crap, we have to get this out today'. Still, nice to see Rokugan coming back and these clips are good teasers to introduce the clans both to new players and reaffirming the stance of the clans to the older crowd.

Can't wait for the new article on Wednesday!

How do the Lion even procreate, anyway? I mean it's the kind of thing where to make a baby you pretty much have to make at least some direct skin-to-skin contact (well, usually), and I always got the impression that the Lion are too proud of their honor to sink that low, even secretly.

not to mention they most likely smell vaugely like grandma's house.

I image there is passage in Leadership on the proper strategic approach, and tactical performance benchmarks. Which is probably why parts of it got banned.:P

Well, the Crab do have the tradition of the Twenty Goblin Winter: anyone who can bring 20 goblin heads over the course of that season gets adopted into the Hida, no questions asked,

Like all things emotional for the Lion, with the help of the Ikoma.

So they tell stories, record history, handle the 'dirty work', do politicts, AND sex ed!

Now THAT is versatility.:D

Don't be a fool. The Lion need no help in such matters.
1. The Akodo diligently 'study' (is that what they call it now?) for their marriage as they would for battle, and when the time comes, they're ready to penetrate deep into unknown territory and conquer absolutely. And like any good general, the Akodo are also sure to study these tactics over and over and over again, to ensure they've mastered this particular form of battle. Practice makes perfect, and duty demands a samurai and their spouse produce at least 2 children, and having even more is more honorable.

2. The passion of the Matsu is unmatched in the Empire, no matter the subject. Be it battle, flower arranging, or love-making, they never tread lightly. Though honorable and proper, never even dreaming of dishonoring their family with improper behavior, once the wedding vows are done, guests are advised to clear the way, 'cause the Matsu's got only one thing on her mind, and you better not get in the way of it. Matsu throw absolutely everything into anything they do do, including their spouses. Ever wonder why the Matsu family is twice the size of any other family in Rokugan? Now you know. If a Matsu samurai-ko is not on screen, odd are she's baby-making or giving birth; every moment not in battle must be spent fueling the Lion war machine to make up for any losses.

3. This might come as a shock to many of you, but did you know that the Kitsu actually descend from cat-people? From actual man-lions? Man-lions that married Akodo's daughters? While more recent accounts insist that the last of the Kitsu race were changed to human form by Lady Sun at Akodo's request, the original accounts make no mention of this; they only state that the girls loved the Kitsu the way they were. Yeah, apparently, that is how the Kitsu do. Needless to say, rumor has it the family still has some rather 'unusual' tastes. If anything, if you notice a fur coat in a Kitsu' couple's closet, don't be alarmed, and above all, don't touch it. It just means they have a happy, healthy relationship.

4. As for the Ikoma...for goodness sake, their founder never married and had 9 sons, all by different women and once killed an troll with his bare hands to impress a waitress half his age. Do I need to elaborate any more?

...and now I feel dirty for typing all that...or just putting that much thought into it.

'I am Ikoma the strongest man in the world for no man has ever bested me.

a hearty claim said Akodo

but a true one . do u see this? I got this scar from an ogre's claw. He was strong. i was stronger. I broke off his fingers. Those Icould'nt rip off I BIT off.

This scar here. I got this one when I discovered the geisha in my bed was a bog hag. But, she fled this place screaming when I was done with her.

This eye? I lost it to some man who said he trained under Kakita. Apparenly, he didnt train enough.

NowTHIS one nearly did me in.

You were lucky. Akodo said

No, the fourtunes have been at my throat my whole life....but I beat them too.

I am Ikoma, and that is why i am the strongest man in the world. If you want to fight me now I wil fight you. But know this son of the sky. You might win this fight, for every man meets his better sooner or later. But you wont wallk away from it. You will be one eye short, and you'll be missing a finger or two. But, if you are lucky, you may keep all your toes.

So, if you are ready, lets go out into the street. Just you and me, no swords, no knives just hands and fingers and feet and teeth. We'll tear eacch other apart til one of us screams our mothers name.

And know THIS Son of the Sky.

I don't KNOW my mothers name.'

Ikoma was the only Lion character that I truly loved. Akodo Kage was interesting, though.

The original lead designer of the CCG and co-designer of the RPG, Dave Williams, felt strongly that Mastu Tsuko was the best L5R character. While she did get more depth towards the end of her story, to me she mostly seemed like kind of a jackass. So far, this new Rokugan's version of Tsuko seems just as foolish.

That's hard to believe. I quickly grew to hate her. Out of all the clan leaders during the Clan Wars, she was the only one that went her story, start to finish, one-note and unchanged. Even in the Lion book from the Clan Wars fiction books, in Tsuko's deep personal dialog, she's the same shallow character inside her head as she is outside for all to see. Tsuko never grows, changes, or really acknowledges her mistakes. Even Mirumoto Hitomi does better than that (in fact I'd say the Dragon book from that series is one of the few that should be consider cannon, as characterization is its strong point), and her character description from the original sourcebook says Hitomi should come across as two-dimensional. Even her seppuku from the original story felt less to me like Tsuko was doing it to run away from having to admit she had failed the Lion rather than an act of honor. Had she really cared about the Lion and the Empire, she would have done like Kisada and bore her shame and led her divided clan anyway. I really never could understand how Tsuko could end up in Yomi; at best, she should have gone to Meido, and the Realm of Slaughter seemed more fitting for her final judgement.

This is what it means to be an Ikoma.
The last part should be their family creed.
