FN-2199 and Riot control Baton

By Chakan99939, in Star Wars: Destiny

Hello,

I wrote some time ago about FN and Riot baton:

Baton:

"After you roll this die into your pool, you may reroll it."

FN-2199:

"After you play a weapon on this character, roll that weapon die, if able. You may immediately resolve"

Initially our playgroup tought that we could play riot using FN, then reroll, then resolve. Thanks to this forum, we noticed that it is not possible, using the rule in the after abilitie section:

" If the trigger condition of an after ability was part of another ability, that entire ability is completed before the new after ability resolves."

also the keyword (Not defined by FFG) "immediately" is being used reinforce that theory.

But, if we follow the exact after rule, we should have something like this when using FN and Baton:

-Baton is played on FN (Wich triggers fn ability)

-Baton is rolled using FN ability: bad roll, a blank. (After ability of Baton triggers, it place itself after FN)

-FN ability ends, not able to resolve.

-Baton die is rerolled, no mather the result, dice stay in pool (Cannot be resolved with FN).

Is this correct? Might seem complicated, but we think this is rule as intended.

Looks right but to simplify you can can either use FN or the Baton ability you choose. Just not both. No need to overthink it. One " OR " the other only.

This isn't quite right - you can use both. You can't use half of one (FN's roll into the pool), use the other (reroll from Baton) and then go back to FN's ability (resolve).

So yes, you roll the Baton into the pool with FN. You can then choose to resolve it (FN is a may). If you don't resolve it, you can then trigger the Baton's ability to reroll. At that point the Baton will stay in the pool as normal.

Nm my bad
