Wookie Gunship Preview!

By MacchuWA, in X-Wing

Wow! Very cool, didn't realize that there would such a change with Nien Nunb added. Now the Rebel's have two ships (A-wing being the other) that have a green speed 5 maneuver , very cool!

...and where would a new movement card be without the Special Edition version added on? ( ;) )

So here is the new Auzituck Gunship with Nien Nunb as a crew member, God bless :D !

I believe this is the first dial with a red speed five maneuver. Crazy but true... (I Think)

Is it just me, or is FFG never on base with their predictions of what will become a great list?

I don't know, this one seems pretty dead on:

Red speed five straight, yes, all other red straight maneuvers are four speed

It's not super impressive, but it's a solid, rounded design. I think the turns are good - that's two whole rounds for a come about and if your opponent is good (or can reposition) showing them your sides gives them the best opportunity to get around reinforce.

Personally, while I get some of the freakout with biggs, selflessness is a unique that works once. And it's only one point. I think it should be seen as an alternative to biggs in a way - a cheap way to get your tanking effects when you really need them without blocking up like a 3rd of your list. Lowhhrick is probably annoying with biggs, but is he a better choice than Kanan? What else do you put in that list - you're shedding your reinforce token to buff biggs so god help you if get shot by somebody with good positioning. And you have no dice mods. Do you just try and go to time and win in final salvo? Do people want to do this?

On the other hand, I kind of like Wullffwarro - he's like the Rebel version of Pure Sabacc. Let him get banged up, don't do any regen - take your lumps and then he kicks up to 4 dice. He's a good place to put Breach Specialist - you're planning on taking hits so don't let those hits suck.

No flip maneuver could mean bad things for the auzituck. Just look at the U-wing if you want an example of what happens with Rebel crew oriented ships that struggle to flip around.

The U-Wing doesn't have a 180 degree arc. The YV-666 does okay with no way to 180 and it's got a worse dial (than the Auzituck) and a large base.

Not sure why they included two Reinforce tokens still.

The two tokens will actually be each slightly different, one to indicate the reinforce is facing forward, the other rear. I think the picture is just a mistake.

**** I miss the days when this (type of list) was worth flying. I wonder what it would take to make this "on-par".

This ship seems mighty solid. But can anyone explain to me why we should field a b-wing, like, EVER AGAIN?

Actually, the tokens are double-sided, as stated on the reference card, so there ARE two of them in the box.

The Wookiee Commandos are also really nice on Epic ships.

Hey! I never even thought of that! Sweet, them and/or Solo onboard an Epic ship really helps out the no Focus chips, sweet! Good thinking :) Sir!

ALso, Biggs has become way hard to kill.

Such a great idea. Lets make the pilot everyone is crying to nerf even hader to kill!

with no offensive modifications other than focus. no re positioning to get out of arc. too expensive for the obvious synergies (which is probably a good thing). breach needs a reinforce, so if you want to fly it on anything else you need Lowhhrick hanging around, who is expensive to try and limit Biggs/LowHhrick causing an unstoppable focus fire wall while Corran Horn flies around destroying things and not giving a **** about Dengar and Assajj.

The only build I can think of that doesn't seem bad in 100/6 is Base/Tactician on a generic.

It's a cheap beefy ship that is going to be hard to arc dodge. It's not so good that it's broken but if you need a cheap anvil it's not a bad choice.

Eh, ok then.

Different dial and Sensor slot.

I like the ship, kind of, but it is just another Biggs partner. I really would like to be able to play rebel small ships that aren't dependant on Biggs.

Pretty sure these days FFG doesn't even know what a bad dial is supposed to look like.

Wait until we see the dial for the Agressor... :-)

because its cheaper, has target lock and barrel roll, better slots....

I'm sorry, I really don't like this thing.

Did I miss them spoil the point cost of the ps 3 pilot? (aka, the only one I cared about :( )

No, you didn't. They haven't revealed its cost or whether or not it has an EPT slot yet.

But these are the only two things I wanted out of the preview article!

I don't see this ship as being a Biggs partner as much as I see if offering an alternative to Biggs.

Either of the named pilots with Selflessness become something that you almost have to dump attacks into during the first round of combat or they'll force you to split your fire. The PS5 continues to provide a disincentive to target anyone but him while the PS7 pilot becomes a bigger threat once he takes 4 points of damage.

Yeah, I agree. All the talk about nerfing Biggs because of this makes no sense. Biggs's job is to protect your other ships so they can do stuff; if the other ship is spending their turns protecting Biggs, then he's no longer doing his job. Kanan remains the best partner for Biggs; with FCS, he can simultaneously keep Biggs alive and kill his opponents.

Yeah, Jess and her A-Wing swarm just got a new second EPT :P That's my initial easy use for the card. Spam it on A's and split your damage around.

It's unique.

But I'm going to guess "26 With" which is still good and better than Braylen Stramm in my Swarm Leader list, but 25 With will be cool and good and YESSS
