U-Wing / ARC stress dealing

By Joe Censored, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I wanted to come up with a list that includes a fully loaded U Wing where the squad specializes in both dealing and clearing its own stress, and see what kind of crazy combo I could come up with. Here's what I got.

U-Wing - Cassian Andor (27)
- Pivot Wing (0)
- Deadeye (1)
- Accuracy Corrector (3)
- Flechette Torpedoes (2)
- Munitions Failsafe (1)
- Gunner (5)
- Rey (2)
Arc-170 - Norra Wexley (29)
- Alliance Overhaul (0)
- R3-A2 (2)
- Fire-Control System (2)
- Vectored Thrusters (2)
- Inspiring Recruit (1)
- Snap Shot (2)
Z-95 Headhunter - Lieutenant Blount (17)
- XX-23 S-Thread Tracers (1)
- Vectored Thrusters (2)
- Trick Shot (0)
Total Points: 99

So Cassian and Norra try to stay within range 2 of each other. Cassian targets an enemy using a focus to fire Flechette torps, but then uses Accuracy Corrector to cancel all dice so it won't hit. This causes 1 stress to be placed on the target regardless. Then since the attack doesn't hit, Cassian follows up with a 2nd attack from Gunner for actual damage, and can still use Accuracy Corrector to guarantee at least 2 hit dice. This can be done any time an enemy is at range 2-3 because Munitions Failsafe saves the Flechette torp from being discarded.

Norra deals stress when declaring target on herself and the opponent in either arcs, and can sometimes do this twice a round if Snap Shot triggers. Assuming Norra stays within 2 range of Cassian, up to 2 stress can be removed from Norra during activation due to Cassian's ability plus Inspiring Recruit, so she shouldn't have to use green maneuvers often, and generally gets her action. Fire-Control System will make it likely she has an active target lock so she can use her ability.

Lieutenant Blount is low cost filler that guarantees a hit with S-Thread Tracers.

I haven't flown this yet, but will try it this weekend. Is this stupid?

If you use current FAQ updates Deadeye is small ship only as of 4.3.2. So this combo is an unfortunate casualty of the ongoing war against Jumpmasters :(

You can switch to VI to help cover, but you also have Blount Tracers in there to help the first pass. If you can't have Deadeye then Rey crew loses some appeal relative to Tactician at the same price...

Also, how are you getting FCS on Norra?

Thanks, I just noticed someone pointed out the Deadeye change in an unrelated thread as well.

Got a kick out of a variation of this U Wing build briefly discussed on the Mynock podcast this week :D Fun stuff
