I got an idea. Is this crazy or meta busting?

So I have been thinking about a list to take to some store championships. I have been mulling several lists in my head and I now think its time to put them to paper and get opinions on them. Here is my first list. Its a variant on miranda dash lists.

Crazy? Meta Busting? Maybe not, but it looks good enough to try.

I doubt it's meta busting, but Dash goes anywhere, and it's harder to get in his doughnut if there is a potential mine drop in your face. It helps that I really think Dash is under-rated, he's a beast if he's built right.

Ah, didn't notice that, but I think the title's a must. He is much weaker with the title. You could always use the mangler with the title if it's a points issue.

I want to try dash without the title. He has a great dial and a 2 dice turret primary shot. So he is not gimped badly by not having the title. Most people you play against will assume he has the title and will try and get into range one. Even if they know he does not they may out of habit still try for range one. This can be used for an advantage by hitting them with range one 3 dice turret and followed up with a next turn cluster bomb.

Barrel roll on dash also helps to keep enemies within front arc for heavy laser cannon shots. He flies more like a jumpmaster with torpedoes in this build.

I'm not sold on the title-less Dash. Barrel roll at PS 7 doesn't reliably get anyone in arc. And a 2-die primary turret can't make a scratch on most things.

Not only can you not make a scratch, you're now worried about barrel rolling off rocks and maintaining arc. I agree. It just doesn't work.

Dash has never been under-rated. He has always been one of the strongest Rebel ships since the 2400 was released.

Dash/Corran was strong for a long time.

Dash/Norra is strong now.

Dash/Miranda is strong now.

Dash/Lothal is still pretty strong now.

A pilot can't be under-rated when it is the main pilot/ship in so many meta builds.

Dash/Corran was strong. But not so much anymore. I don't think pairing him with Norra or Miranda is that great. Every time I've ever flown against that, I went straight for whoever Dash is paired with, burned it down, than spent the rest of the game chasing Dash. It's not that he isn't strong, it's that he's a lot of points and anything paired with him has a huge target on it.

It looks like good fun, but just bear in mind that dash's greatest strength lies in baiting his opponent through asteroid fields, while shooting his turret.

Dash Norra won an 80+ regional just this past regionals season against pre-nerf Defenders and Palp builds along with Pre-nerf Parattanni.

Dash Miranda just finished 2nd at the 300+ person European Championships. BTW, Leebo Miranda won that tournament.

I'd say that speaks for itself.

Ok guys i finally got a game in against one of the better local store players in my area. He finished first in our league and has been playing for quite some time. Anyway he was running a version of attani mind link which included ketsu, fenn and a new syck pilot Quinn Jast. His Ketsu was very light I think he only had mind link or maybe the title as well. Fenn was standard Fenn with mind link and he had jast with mind link, heavy title and proton rockets. I got initiative and we set up the rocks in a pyramid like structure. I used three debris fields and he had rocks. He set up Jast on his far right just behind and to the left of Ketsu. Fenn went on his far left. I put dash angled 45 degrees on my far right and put miranda about mid board. early turns he moved ketsu and jast slowly up his right side. While Fenn moved very fast up his left. I had dash 3 bank left toward miranda and miranda 3 straight into the asteroid field. Next turn my opponent turned ketsu and jast into the middle for a fight while his Fenn went far wide again with another 5 straight to flank behind me. I turn ed dash and miranda into the middle and combat was uneventful. I focused on Ketsu and he lost 2 shields from dash and Miranda. In return I lost 1 shield on dash. Next turn dash slowed down and turned away from ketsu. Miranda flew right and around an asteroid. Jast went slow to line up shots and ketsu turned with dash. Fenn then turned in and got into range three of dash. I popped counter measures this turn. Fen fired and did no damage on dash, Ketsu fired and did 1 shield on dash, Jast wiffed. Dash was at range one on ketsu and rolled three hits. He lost his shields and I think a hull. Miranda had range on ketsu and caused two more damage. Next turn was critical. I was able to bomb both jast and ketsu. Miranda lined up a nice cluster run on jast. Two bombs hit him and he rolled max damage and dies. Ketsu got bombed by dash and flew into 2 cluster mines. Three hits and a sabine damage later Ketsu is almost dead. The last few turns are me finishing Ketsu off and fenn closing into close range. Miranda manages to lay a perfect cluster bomb on Fenn and Fenn promptly dies.

Good game against a great player.

I did mod my list a bit before the match. I had removed scavenger crane and smuggling compartments from dash and added ion bombs to miranda. It ended up not mattering because i never used the ion bombs. But I could have used the crane to get back counter measures after Ketsu died.

Some takeaways from the match would be that dash did not do a whole lot of damage with his HLC. I had arc on ships like three times and did some damage with it but I don't think it was worth the points. I may look into swapping the HLC for mangler cannon and add back in the outrider title. Bombs were key to the win. So I want to keep them on. All I would have to do is drop ion bombs and HLC to fit mangler cannon and outrider on dash.

I like it! Flies unconventional, and the damage against slippery aces comes from bombs, not HLC hammering. But outrider really is awesome if you can skip behind someone with a bomb, and then use mangler at range one behind them.

You might consider getting bomblet generator when it comes out, so you have a constant threat from behind dash, yet you can grab those focus actions as well.

Have you thought about EI on Dash instead of CM? It would allow him to 3 hard turn, barrel roll, then drop a cluster mine on someone - even if you find yourself on a rock to do so. Though it would be a one time use thing (though so is CM)... or at least until the crane picks up the Cluster Mines again.

I don't think bomblet generator would work on dash because it takes two bomb slots and sabine only give me one slot. But I do think mangler cannon and outrider will improve dash's damage output.

I did not think about EI on dash. I was using countermeasures as an anti meta tech vs torpedo lists like dengar and such. It would be fun to barrel roll and then drop a cluster mine right on top of someone. I might have to give it a try. Thanks.
