The new heroes and infantry boxes

Happy birthday! Already updating the wiki with the new info!

Happy birthday - thanks for the pics. That rocks.

The more i play with the Necromancer the more i seriously think he was designed with the reanimate's upgrade that keeps their trays around until the end of the round.

God i want that card lol....

O @Vineheart01

I like the idea to use the necro, but how will you protect him or the other character upgrade for Waiqar against Kari with fortunas dice. She can so easily snipe these chars out of their units.

By that logic no upgrade character is worth bringing period.

Kari cant get an auto accuracy in range, and if she has Fortuna's Dice that means she doesnt have Heartseeker, so shes exposed - rain arrows on her face. Ranged attacks in this game are not 100% safe unless you have Heartseeker

Kari is also still subject to being worthless depending on rule interpretation, if they faq it where she needs LOS for her surge ability i'd be surprised to see her again once we get Haw(Thorns) trucking around saying "HIT ME I DARE YOU!" - personally i dont even want to use kari anymore, i only add her to my daqan lists because uh well hmm who else would i add...lol

Besides, the necromancer is a whopping 3pts. Its easily the cheapest Character upgrade that has any value. If she does take it out and not your Blight applying banner, 1) thats 1 dead model not 2 cause he has armor and 2) meh youre out 3pts what else would you put in there the almost useless Executioner?

I mean... models die in this game. Fast.

Most of the game is position and maneuver to set up ideal attack runs, but once dice roll, models disappear.

If she's killing the necromancer, at least she isn't deleting a tray and stealing a re-roll.

Right.

If she shoots and gets an accuracy, the best damage she can do is 4 (1hit 1acc + 1hit x2). That would wipe a tray, and personally if the reanimates in question DONT have the card that lets the tray stick around after i kill it off i'd rather wipe the tray than burn 2 of those hits on the Necromancer. The tray is still around at that point, and they can easily regenerate the rest of the damage depending on runes - if i remote the tray in the first place, they cant regenerate.

I've played with the necro a handful of times trying to find ways to make it happen "between" taking damage and the initiatives just dont let it happen. I think you NEED the "trays dont leave" card in order to use him.

Sooo the new deployment zone of Lord Hawthorne pack is a 1 wide on both sides. What do you do if a unit you own cannot fit inside the deployment zone? Do you just place it as well as possible?

Back edge to map edge, effectively everything starts edge to edge of map.

Are there additional rules for making the deployment and terrain deck that is drawn from?

nope not yet the only additional rules were from the Ankaur box on adding trays

The lack of rules around which deck to draw from for deployment/terrain/objectives is quite annoying. If the RRG just mentioned whether you use first or second players decks that would at least help but right now it's 'flail wildly and guess'

I'm expecting that we'll get rules for it in the Tournament Regulations whenever they drop.

I guess so but until then, what do we do? Just make something up? Ignore them and don't use them? There is no rule for how to handle these currently

Until we get some tournament guidance where it actually matters, just flip a coin.

Generally when i play one person supplies everything so we dont get our crap mixed up.

The way actual terrain is drawn, that's not always possible.

Place Terrain:
Shuffle the terrain cards together. Then, deal
out a number of cards equal to the number listed next to the
defensive terrain (⇺) icon on the chosen deployment card.
Set aside the terrain pieces indicated on the defensive-terrain
half of the dealt cards. Repeat this process for the number
shown next to the dangerous terrain (⇽) icon as well.

I fail to see the issue.....
Unless theres a deployment i just havent used yet that has a chance to use both sides of one of the terrain pieces, i dont see how this is a problem. And even then, you should have two of them anyway because you have two players. Just because one player supplies the cards doesnt mean anything if you happen to need more terrain than one player would have.

The only issue with who's deck of terrain cards do you use is if one player doesnt have them all. Which, again, unless its a tournament who cares just flip a coin or just go "You have more terrain to pick from use your deck"

Thing is first step is Shuffle the cards, you set aside the terrain, not the cards. You can have 2 rocks and a spikes (so 3 small obstacles).

We know organized play is coming, that is a fact. That also means that the RWMG team has an idea of how they want objectives and terrain to be introduced in the tournament setting. What is most frustrating to me is that both the launch event and the escalation event had no guidance included in their packs. If only FFG could publish a "casual" guide that is semi official until actual tournament rules hit the web that would be a relief to most minds.

As it is now, there isn't a lot of controversy on how to set up. that will change when Hawthore and Mauro hit the shelves because they include new terrain and objectives. It will really hit the fan when elves hit the shelves.
