I'd love to get ahold of that Q2 dial, but it appears to not be in the stars for me (and the Q2 kits have been played in my area already, couldn't attend). SO, I'm looking for alternatives on keeping track of the turn number+slider color, and one that's also generally accepted at OP events. I was thinking of using the initiative token plus a medium-large D6 or a D6 with the 1, 3, and 5 sides blue and the 2, 4, and 6 sides red (even if I had to paint the D6 that way myself). Any feedback is appreciated!
Turn/Initiative Tokens and their alternatives
try to Ebay a q2 dial?
Get a hold of one of those old plastic blue/orange flippy coins and use a D6 (saw that a lot, still do). Might be easier to score now that turn dials have happened?

I've checked on eBay, only listing I've seen is international, and 16USD shipping is pretty steep for something like that.
I bought a foam, all white cube the normal size of a D6 and colored 3 sides orange and 3 blue, then added numbers. I called it a turn die and everyone else calls it my turn counter chance cube

This is what I use and it's swell. I prefer it to the Q2 turn counters, but it's a bit more expensive to acquire.

Use a ywing, defender any hull6 squadron base?
The activation slider is your initiative color and the hull points is the turn counter.
I'll no doubt sit down to produce one in the future...
...
But I'm so old school, I actually use the cardboard 1-6 chits of the core set with my Acrylic Turn Marker from last year.

I had quit checking back for the longest time as mostly everything before was listed as out of stock. Glad to see I caught them with stock for a change, and bonus was that I forgot they produced one! $20 is a drop in the hat compared to what the FFG one would cost, albeit I do admit to liking it.
Plus, hurrah for acrylic shield dials.
Edited by DestraaI got a Q2 Dial with 4x Rapid Reloads and an A-Wing alt-art for about $22 on eBay from a seller overseas in Europe who was selling multiple of them at the time. I really like the look and feel of the official promo dials and wish they were something FFG produced for purchase in, like, a Special Edition Upgrade Kit or something with all kinds of acrylics to pimp our games out with.
I love my Q2 dial.

But remember I handed you the basic framework of your winning fleet. ?

Indeed you did! And a very good framework it is.

Being your regular playing partner, I do, after all, know your style. It is rather ironic that it stands at odds to your preference of ships.

Indeed, but needs must when Rieekan drives.

By old school, you mean elementary/primary/grammar school? ![]()

That thing is truly grotesque.
Nope, I'm quite happy with my Q2 turn counter. Before that I had a Campaign Against Cancer coin from X-Wing (2014?), which was absolutely great, though still needed the d6. I never used the acrylic prize pool one.
I have the Corsec Engineering dial, and while it works, the Q2 one is far better.

sorry to necro the thread, but what's the general word on this one? Since I don't seem close to be getting a Q2 one, I might just order this one. It kinda looks nice but pictures can be deceiving.

I realize I'm just repeating myself, but I like it. I prefer it over the Q2 kit one (I gave mine to one of the locals who wanted a turn counter). The Q2 kit one works a lot like the speed dials do, only it's made of acrylic. The Recreator Studios turn counter has (in my opinion anyways) a higher production value and it's based on a magnet keeping the two halves together, so spinning it is very easy but it still stays put. If needs be you can store the two halves separately.

thx
I have one of these. It's ridiculously overengineered and I love it.
