Is there any talent that let's a character add damage per rank of survival? Or use survival instead of the usual combat skill? Or any other way to use survival in combat?
Survival-Talent that uses it for combat
Only in the sense of setting up traps.
Hunter's Quarry (action) and Improved Hunter's Quarry (same, as maneuver) in the Big-Game Hunter tree. The talent requires a Survival check (3 purple), to upgrade attacks against a target at long range, until the end of the character's following turn.

This. The target can be anywhere up to Long range and it upgrades every attack, which includes your allies. It's in Executioner from Savage Spirits too.
There is the Cunning Snare talent in Trailblazer
Soft Spot adds Damage to 1 hit of a successful attack equal to Cunning, probably a decent number if Survival is important to you.
Then finally there is riding animals, which is probably the closest thing to what you actually want. You use your Survival skill to make an attack (as an Action obviously) with your mounts weapon, difficulty is usually Average like normal melee combat. Damage is calculated using the mounts weapon and Brawn.

The wording in Enter the Unknown specifies at long range, with no mention of "up to" or "including." I understood the syntax to limit the talent to only long range? Is the wording different in Savage Spirits, or has this been clarified?
And yes, it does include allied attacks, which is pretty awesome!
I'm sure it was clarified by a Developer, perhaps in the Savage Spirits Order 66 episode. I'll see if I can find it.
As an exercise, I'm see-ing what you can build using the shistavan, hunters instinct with an all survival build.
I'm thinking hermit/? Trailblazer might be good for second spec...
Whhich specs have soft spot In their tree?

For the hunters quarry talent:
Does it affect everyone's combat checks against the target, or just the character using the talent?
Does it work at all ranges up to long (engaged through long) or only at long?
Thanks!Yes it applies to targets within long range (so short-long range), and it applies to all attacks, including ally attacks.
Found it. Thanks!
Nice!

Skip Tracer has it.
Hunter has soft spot. So does Infiltrator and very cheap in that tree.
Beast Rider is best for beast riding ?
Executioner Hunter is rather devastating, Hermit too. For a non Force User then Big Game Hunter with Beast Rider is great, otherwise the defensive path of Infiltrator or Trailblazer.

It's actually the best example of reading the long form version of the Talent and just reading the spec chart as it is pretty close to the most poorly worded Talent in the trees.
It gets real bad with translated book. One poor gamer on here from Germany was posting and when we back and forthed whoever did the translating just read the spec chart must be and more or less assumed on the long form wording and didn't actually translate that.
Edited by 2P51Woo...had not ready Hunters Quarry that Carefully...my Gand Pathfinder/Executioner is going to get DEADLY...in 25 more XP...8D
Also going to have to Add Hunter in as well...
The Shistavanen racial allows them to use Survival in place of Cool/Vigilance for Initiative.
The Trailblazer has a talent that allows the character to use Survival in place of Cool/Discipline for post-enouncter strain recovery.
Hermit has Survival of the Fittest, a talent that lets them raise their Force rating to match their ranks in Survival for a single check per session.
Hermit can also add their Force Rating to all Survival checks

Remember Hunters Quarry is an action so you cannot use it and attack yourself on the same turn (which is where the improved version comes in), although it does last till the end of your next turn.
